As a public course, our car park is not gated or anything. This weekend, the club was busy as a beehive. After the medals, got the family over for a lunch. My BIL joined us.

After lunch, he drove off and went shopping. As he got out of the car in the towncentre he noticed, that someone had apparently backed into his car. There is a tidy dent on the rear fender/bumper. No one left a note either.

Went back to the club and they cant do anything about it as the ‘Parking is at risk’. Also the CCTV do not cover the full car park and BIL was nearly at the back. I am assuming there is nothing that can be done in this case.

A couple of years ago, someone thinned a shot and smashed my wing mirror. Nothing could be done at that point too, except take it on the chin and buy a new mirror off fleabay.

How are other clubs managing these incidents.

As always, cars are parked at the owners risk in pretty much any car park you go in, and there will normally be signs somewhere that state this somewhere.

I had the unfortunate case of leaving my car at some hotel parking when I went on holiday, and signed the forms etc. Came back, and one of my wheels had been badly scuffed...just after I had had them all completely refurbished. Sadly, upon complaining, which I did at the time, as well as by letter when I got home, they just sent me the photocopy of the 'waiver' I had signed saying that they take no responsibility for any damage to cars.

My clubs insurance covers any incident involving a golf ball being hit into the car park but im sure like anywhere they wouldnt cover damage by another car. Thats the responsibilty of the person driving the car that hits you

like the above, covered for golf related accidents, but someone driving into it is nowt to do with the club.

If you do hit a wild one into our car park, you must report it to the club manager. (something i have not had to do yet!)

same here, report it and club insurance covers it- I've had to report it twice:o but fortunately my shot(s) missed all cars

Played at ganton last May 36 holer at lunch went to the car to find back window was put in no chance of a ball doing it and no one had seen anything.

Years ago it happened to my mate's Alfa.

He had a lovely imprint in his rear wing that said tsieltiT

being a muni i assume the car park is for everyone to use so same as car park in town so nothing that can be done unless you can prove who drove car IF they were aware of accident and if you were parked in proper manner.

Was laying with a guy in a match once and hooked a shot on a hole adjacent to the car park. As we watched the ball fall, I said "Gee, I wonder who owns that Audi" or words to that effect, and my opponent said " I do". Ball hit his windscreen wiper and knocked off a wind deflector but no other damage. It also bounced back onto the course and I halved the hole.

Ethan, you must learn to proof read. "Laying" with a guy...

I thought the same. Maybe he's only Ethan on weekdays! We have the standard "park at your own risk" signs but nowhere near the course so no danger of damage from stray shots. However we've had the odd break in once in a while We have some CCTV but not sure how far it covers etc.

I scraped an adjacent car while reversing out of a tight space and was pretty careless, I went back in and told the owner and paid to have it sorted ( wasn't much)

With you on the tee everyone is in danger - well bar the people on the fairway of the hole you are playing :D

Just last week, I was playing with my dad and adjacent to the first hole a BT van was carrying out a repair in the overflow car park. It was only about 70 yards away and he proceeded to hit a sublime duck hook straight into the back of the open workshop van that had 3 workmen in it! Not laughed so much in a long time as he skulked off to retrieve his ball, luckily nobody was hurt and they saw the funny side.
