Morning all

I am Vice Captain at my golf club and starting to plan my year for 2015. One event I need to organise is my captain's charity challenge. I wish to make this golf related. Can anybody give me suggestions from their own club experiences?

Thanks in anticipation.

Not so much an event but something I saw at Ardglass and Ballycastle in Northern Ireland a couple of weeks ago was a nominated bunker where if you land in it you are asked to make a charity donation

Ask anyone who has an NR to put a pound in the charity jar ?

Have a monthly challenge with the pro against two of the club golfers

Have a Capts Charity day or a Charity Ryder Cup against a local club

Last year we had teams of four sign up with 3 best scores from first 6 holes counting then the two best holes from the middle six and then the two worst scores from last 6. The day was advertised everywhere and we had a very good turnout.

We also had a 100ft putting competition on the practice green, straightest drive, nearest the pins on all par 3's and raffles etc.

Guys

Many thanks for these fantastic ideas. Specifically I meant (but sorry did not make it clear) a one off challenge. Last year the Captain cycled the coast to Coast and this year the Captain played three rounds of golf in three counties on the same day with no buggy. On the 18th at our club when he, the Lady Captain and Junior Captain finished there must have been 200 people on the patio to 'greet' them back.

It was doing something like this but different that I was looking for ideas from your own experiences.

Like I say many thanks for the suggestions above.

Why not push beyond this year (if possible) and play golf in three countRies on the same day? Don't know where you are but may be difficult to finish at your own (or use it).
South Scotland, North / middle England, North Wales. Stay over at the furthest point, tee off EARLY morning, drive to next, play etc.

Dependant on courses I would think total travel would be somewhere from 4~6 hours, golf for 9~10 hours. 16 hours all in.
Theoretically could be done mid June, start at 5am finish at 9pm. You would get a rest in the car but it would be hard going. You would need someone to drive you so you can rest and eat on the move,
