Captains Day Tomorrow

Was invited to play in the captains day tomorrow and its pairs betterball, not quite sure of the rules of this format, looked around on the web but there isnt much. Hoping you might be able to fill me in on th details as i dont want to turn up and not know how to play it

You and your partner each play their own ball, best nett score between you is your score for the hole, i.e you nett3 partner nett4, your team scores 3.

Sounds like another name for 4BBB to me - a group of 4 players in teams of 2 where the best net score on each hole is counted (or best points if stableford) for each pair.

Last time I played one of these we got it all wrong, you need your partner to bail you out when you have a bad hole but we somehow managed to synchronise our scores far too well and a lot of 3-pointers ended up not counting

Depends on the rules for the competition though I believe 3/4 handicap is more usual for 4BBB comps

Last time I played this (it was our captain's day too) we were off 7/8ths handicap, but I think it varies depending on the whims of the organisers

Our Captains Day too tomorrow but ours is an individual event. Prizes for top 5 and I've had a cheeky wager on Hawkeye to get one.

Better ball competitions are normally off a 3/4 handicap.
You both play the hole and the best nett score is recorded.
Good luck our captains day is next Sat and it is also a better ball format but there is also a best individual gross prize I think.
