Our club Captain is a true gent.

I've played with him a few times in the Sunday club, and he seemed like a nice chap and he helped me out in getting my handicap processed before Beau.

Well, after my debacle yesterday with being too late to enter the Club Championships, I emailed him to request the number of the man who's organising the Club Champs to ask if I could be put on the reserve list.

I got an email back from the Captain this morning saying "I was up at the club yesterday and put your name on the reserve list, looks very likely you'll get a spot!"

What a nice man.

Beats the stuffy, pretentious club captain's I've experienced in the past.

Great to hear of these things. Our captain is rather anonymous, I couldn't pick him out of a line up of two.

Hope you play well in the c'ship mate :)

Cheers, I'm sure I won't. It will be my 1st club comp. Nothing like diving in at the deep end eh? :D

Our Captain's also great. Really involved and a very friendly bloke. Plays almost all the men's team events too.

Good luck!

Have to be honest and say we've been quite lucky in the last few years to have had some pretty good captains. All have made the odd decision or two I didn't agree with but they've all been approachable and never let their captaincy go to their head.

Been lucky with the captains since i joined. Two of them i knew already, and the others are regular members of our roll up. All the captains i have known at the club have single figure handicaps, and the next two in line are the same. At least i haven't got any worries about being asked. ;) ;)
