My other half has asked me to upgrade her camera. I use a Canon DSLR 30 D and we have looked at the Canon G12 as a quality point and shoot for her but a camera I can use when lugging my gear around is too much effort

Has anyone got a G12 and, if so, would you recommend it?

Thanks in advance for any replies

My sister who lived in Japan has one. Now she had the choice of any camera at very cometitive prices and this is the one she went for. I was mazed by how many functions it had and the pictures are sharp as a pin. She is a photography buff and swears by the things as her day to day camera. That's about all I know on the subject...

Chris, check out the photography section on avforums.com, masses of info from tried and tested users

talkphotography.co.uk also worth a visit

Wait for the i12 to come out - apparently it suits the better photographer rather than the SuperPhotoImproment G12s
It's also in matt black which is apparently the "in" look
;)

Thanks guys. I guess that with the I12 coming out it is why the G12 is coming down in price. As its the wifes "point and shoot" camera it might definitely be the one to get and I can use it too
