I'm quite keen on photography, and considering buying a secondhand Canon full frame camera to supplement my Canon 30D. I'm reading that second hand Canon 5d MK1 and 2, although pretty old, are really good buys so long as they are reasonably low shutter usage.

Anyone any advice, ideas etc? Thanks in advance

Check that your lenses are compatible. Can't remember which are and which aren't - EF-S(?) I think. Its a full size sensor, which is a plus, but its only 12.8mp.

If the shutter usage isn't too high, and the price is right, go for it.

Hi
Thd 5d do get rave reviews - i have a 7D (not full frame), and buy most of my 2nd hand stuff from Harrison Cameras, Sheffield, who have been trading many years, have an excellent reputation and give a 12m warranty on all used cameras, lens etc. The decent warranty does mean you could buy online relatively risk free.
Have also bought online without issue from London Camera Exchange and Park Cameras - both excellent
One thing to be aware of is that some of your lens for 30D may not be compatible with the 5D.

You can use full frame lenses on crop frame sensors, but you can’t go the other way around. You would just get round pictures IF the mirror can clear the lens in the 1st place. If the lens is poking too far in it might actually damage the mirror.
