After seeing Tashy's thread yesterday not sure whether I dare post on here again!

Travelled over 200 miles to Scotland to play in 3 Open Comps this week. Due to circumstances beyond my control had to return home and managed a refund for 2 nights accommodation.

Whilst the amount is only around £60, no big issue, should the Club's give a refund as they were full and had some notice and there was a waiting list.

Repeat no big issue but the draw had been made and should welcome any views re your own Club

My own view, on a club committee but just one voice who often loses :(, is that if you can be replaced and the club does not lose out then I would refund. If the club can not find a replacement then I would not refund. That would seem to be the fair argument and one I would put forward.

That sounds sensible to me.

They'd eat you alive for it

:)

Don't think Iv ever been refunded for opens Iv had to cancel. Some even with considerable notice.
I can see both sides of it but generally I'm guessing the club will sell the tee time twice and double their money. A lot of clubs have a waiting list especially for early morning slots so should be able to fill the space.
If you cancel within reasonable time scale then you should be entitled to your money back,

That would be my position as well, the club should see if they can fill the spot from the reserve list and refund if they can.

I'd agree with this. Clubs have a 'break even' competitor figure to allow the prizes listed to be honoured. So as long as your spot was taken you should be reimbursed.

Most Opens I enter, including our own, say "no refund after start time are published" on the entry form, so it is up to the individual club.

Always worth asking but do it politely.

For the opens I run my rules are.

One month before I refund no questions asked.

within a month to go then we use the if we find a replacement we will refund you less £5 admin charge.
