HELP !

We have a Canal Feeder that runs alongside our course which used to be owned by Thames water. When it leaked they would send a team out and fix it. They, apparently have passed ownership over to some company that is a "charity" and it has no money. The feeder has been leaking all this year and the part of the course by it, in certain sections, has been almost unplayable all this season with huge "ponds" forming. GUR's everywhere! Our head green keeper says there is nothing we can do as they are a charity and have no money. The thing is with water is get everywhere and could possible ruin at least three of our holes.
Is there anything we could do?

It would be strange if the owners didn't have some form of third party insurance to cover such issues. Perhaps you need to investigate a bit more. Just because the owners are a charity doesn't mean they don't have responsibilities.

This is what I think, but the people in charge at our place just shrug their collective shoulders and say there's nowt we can do. I'm beginning to wonder...

Which canal does it feed, most are maintained by the Canal and River trust these days

not sure...I've done a bit of research this morning, busy busy busy at work, and have sent an e mail the C&R to see if they are responsible. As for feeder I've looked on Google maps and it is marked as a feeder, but I can't see what it feeds.

Bump bump bumpity bump

Ahem, after a few phone calls and chats to very helpful people at the Environmental agency, it turns out the Local Highways agency are responsible. A quick e mail was dashed off, and a reply was received on Friday saying that they would send an inspector over to check it out. It included a reference number so that I can track what is going on. :D Just what on earth is going on with the staff at my place. I'm already occupying the very high ground over the clubs staff at the moment and am poised to attack as soon as this gets sorted (I hope). I will be querying what is actually going on at the club, as to who is responsible for this not being sorted out. I'm looking forward to much pointing of fingers and maybe a few drinks being bought for me, (The Captains already promised one !)

its looking good, hope it now gets sorted, although it does seem of that its Highways responsibility, is there a major road nearby?

I think that it should work like this. Problem spotted by groundstaff. Head green Keeper informed. He then informs the Club secretary, who being in a nice warm office and next to a phone, sorts out the problem.
It will be interesting to see how our club SHOULD have dealt with it.
