If you go really short with the putter length - will it cause inherent problems with stroke/ alignment?

Just got a putter that is cut to 30.5" - I think it used to be Jimmy Crankies

see you see me, that length of putter is fandabydozy 'n that

Only you can tell but I cant see any issues with short putters. Isn't there a PGA tour pro who uses his kids putter?

I had one cut to 28" and it was brilliant on fast greens... rubbish on fluffy Winter ones though as it feels quite light and you really have to swing it.

Some of the guys at my club think I'm crackers for having a 33" putter. I bought a 35" Nome on here and then got it cut to 33", most comfortable length for me and my ropey style. Had a 32" once before but it was a killer on my back.

I've been told by my pro that too short of a putter can cause alignment issues, your eyeline goes from being above the putting like to beyond it. Wether that is true or not I'm not sure.

mine is cut to 30" and its the best club in the bag as its the only one that behaves consistently. i'm 5'8" but it just feels right to me.

No it was t jimmys it was my brothers! He's got a TM white smoke in 29" with a superstroke grip that he is bloody lethal with. I go d it a bit to short and found that 33" is perfect for me. But if it works then I don't think the length matters.

Id say this ^^^

If you just bend further as the putter gets shorter there has to be a point where your eyes are beyond the ball. Having said that, if it works who cares.

If you like it but it feels too light it has to be worth trying either lead tape or a lighter grip.

Recently got re-fitted for mine, so play a 34".

As has been said, I would imagine it would cause some alignment issues and probably give you a bad back after a while.

That said, if you'e comfortable with it, go for it.

Just got the new ping adjustable one, why not try that out ?

Eye, I won one of those Scottsdale ones in a competition. If someone is concerned about the putter length then get one of those and just play around with it until you find the length that suits you.

I am sure there is more to it as there always is, but in my book if most of your puts with a 32 inch shaft are there or there abouts and most with a 35 inch shaft are not then there you go, sorted. Putting should be the easiest thing to see if it works or not by messing around with shaft lengths as the desired outcome is pretty simple, does it go in the hole or not.

And if the shaft length makes no difference and most are missing no matter what the length is then it's probably your rubbish putting style. And if most are going in no matter what your shaft length is then it's your excellent putting style. ;)
