I've been using the old warbirds but only have one left in the bag and with a full weekend of golf planned i'm looking to buy some new ones.

My bad shot with my driver is a slice but it's not a huge slice and I do want a ball with spin as i've been praticing my short game and seem to be able to get a slight bit of check on the ball now.

I was thinking about the new warbirds, although i'm not too sure how different they will be to the old ones. Note, i'm happy with the old warbirds but always looking for a bit more.

Secondly my club has just started stocking the bridgestone balls, I'm thinking of asking my pro which ones are best suited to me and giving them a go.

Or does anyone else have any other reccomendations? Nothing too soft as I havent got on with soft feel balls in the past.

The Wilson Staff DX2 Soft is the ball for you mate.

I really like them and at £15 a dozen they are awesome as they arent far behind a ProV1.

I would ditch the warbirds, used them a bit myself but they were just to hard for my game, mind you, if they work for you I am totally wrong.

How much you willing to spend mate?

The DX2 is an ace ball and will defo help you with the spin. Also have a look at the PX3 its a few quid more than the DX2 but worth it.

Cant go wrong with the NXT balls. I won some at the Ascot GM meet and originly thought what the hell am I going to do with these rocks but was pleasantly surprised when I knocked one round today. I really liked it and it feels totally different off the club face than in the hand.

I have already tried and sung the praises of the b330s Bridgestones, temporarily back with pro vx1s as the pro had run out of the Bridgestones, popular ball!

I honestly think £15 per dozen is my limit, i though about £20 per dozen but then where does it stop?

Anything £15 or less. I think i'll give the DX2's a go based on yours and Jons advice. Be prepared for a rollocking on Sunday evening if I have a shocker.

It'll definitely be the balls fault and nothing to do with my bad swing.

Just don't go near the Taylor Made burner balls, they are utter tosh!

For that money mate you gotta go with the DX2. Go back to the Warbirds in the winter when you aint going to get any spin and just want distance.

have too agree these are the best balls on the market.

Srixon AD333
Srixon Soft feel
Wilson DX2

Personally, I also quite like the Taylormade balls, particularly the Burner TP.

If you have a Nevada Bob near you, minty, they are doing 2 dozen Wilson DX2's for £19.99.

Minty if you are looking for a low driver spin ball (harder ball) avoid the DX3, they are soft so create more driver spin the same with the Srixon AD333 and anything with "Soft" in the name.

Harder balls have lower spin rates and go further and for the Mid-higher handicapper go straighter, I would go for the Srixon Trispeed, a low driver spin ball with good feel and £15.99 a dozen from Greg Nicholson Golf and are a top ball for that price. Failing that try the Srixon Distance which is also a very good ball.

I've been a fan of srixon ad333 for a couple of years now and rate them highly for performance at reasonable cost.During the winter i have been using pick-ups and after finding and using a few Wilson Staff dx2 these will definatly be my next purchase, it seems quite a few on here are fans also, so this has only made me more sure of my thoughts about changing :)

I find this thread quite interesting.
When watching the guys on tour, not all but alot of them use ProV1s.
Why is then that amateurs dont copy them and use all sorts of pick ups.
I thought perhaps its the price but then a dozen Prov1 lake balls are cheaper than a dozen new AD333s.
Is it because they think they will spin more, therefor their slice or hook will be exagerated?
In my humble opinion, the Prov1 is the best ball in the market for performance, spin and durability (compared to the old Tour 90 and 100, they were rubbish).
Why is it then that people use other inferior balls, is it just personal preference?

It's a cost thing for me mate otherwise i'd use them all the time. After the crowborough game GM gave us a dozen pro v1's. I loved them but just cant justify paying £36 for a dozen.
