First up i've been a 20+ a day smoker for the past 8 years and regardless of what people say, there is nothing more enjoyable and relaxing than a nice cigarette.

However I was recently pretty Ill (Hospital spec flu). I've been back out on my feet for 2 weeks now, however I can't touch cigarettes anymore. My beloved Marlboro lights now taste what I imagine someones backside to taste like. Over the past 2 weeks, i've had collectively about 1 and a half cigarettes, the taste is actually making me gag.

Has anyone else had this trouble? I've never experienced anything like it, I don't want to give up!

Why don't you want to give despite all the benefits that come with that ?

No longer being able to stomach smoking can only be a good thing as opposed to "trouble"

I gave up 4 years ago and every penny I save on a weekly basis I spend on golf stuff

Wish I gave up decades ago or in fact didn't even start

Jees Dan its a commitment issue here, doesn't matter how bad it tastes, power through.

It'll come back eventually, Stay strong

Can empathise with this. Maybe 6 years ago I was ill and lost my desire to smoke.Fought thru it was back tabbing with a month.
Eventually gave up for good nearly three years ago and now wretch at the smell of smoking, I really really hate it.

but can understand and occasionally my desire to smoke comes back, usually after 2/3 pints!

This is one of the most random things I have ever read. Someone effectively looking for tips on how to keep smoking LOL

First time for everything isn't there.

Yes that is your taste buds coming back. That is what is really tastes like. I bet you can smell a smoker now from 50feet.

If you miss the act of smoking get a vape with zero nicoteen.

Try Vaping??

This is sound advice. It's helped me in a big way... I've gone fr a twenty a day habit to 0 a day, almost over night. Not had one of the little devils in over 12 months and feel great for it.

Quit now and strike whilst the iron is hot. If you get to a point where you ever wanna give up, I bet you won't feel like this!

been vaping for 4 weeks, got a great setup with spares and juice for 70 notes, paid for itself within a week off the cigs!

loving a bit of b&h with a few drops of custard cream :D

thats after being a 20-30 a day man for the last 25 years. I actually prefer it to smoking and smell better and have cut down on salt/sugar etc due to being able to taste better.

How's it going Dan, been thinking about this thread when I was having a smoke just now, you managed to break through the taste phase yet?

My sister did the same 6 months or so ago, she's got 2 eCigs now, bubblegum flavour in one cherry in the other... she much prefers it to smoking. Forget the smell etc, being able to have a puff at work with no-one knowing (odourless etc) makes up for fag breaks in the rain!
