Can anyone recommend a good GPS device?

My other half bought me a SkyCaddie 2.5 for Christmas and it is a piece of shyt.

I have followed the instructions to the letter and it keeps failing to connect to CaddieSync.

By the looks of things I am not even going to bother contacting them as their customer serive is so appalling it would just make me even more angry.

I'm just going to bite the bullet and use a reputable company.

Any recomendation?

as bad as ive heard their customer service is if its a faulty unit which is what it sounds like then it should replace it free of charge, i would contact their customer service before trying anything else and only when that fails would i look into getting another one, just my opinion though

I have the sky caddie sg5 and sometimes mine can be a bit tempramental when synching. May just be my computer but the software has a habbit of freezing when you sync it so you have to unplug it and start again. Apart from that mine is fine.

I brought the mars100 on the suggestion of a few from here, only 120.00 and that comes with 10 free course downloads, additional downloads are $15.00 per 10. The s1 watch seems very popular with no download fees, but I can't where a watch when Playing

Hmmm, I have had mine for about a year and had no problems with it.

Just looked at that and my course isn't on it. There are only a handful listed here and only TWO mapped, pathetic. How long, once requested, does it take to get a course mapped?

I second that mine is a great job.
My mate got a sky caddy and he asked me to sync it. I spent a couple hours attempting it and got nowhere. Then I used their online help desk and an operator connected to my laptop remotely and set it all up from their office.
My mate was happy with it although preferred my GolfBuddy when I got it.

i have a sg5 and when i first got it i had problems with losing signal whilst playing. I contacted sky caddie and i got excellent customer service, sent my unit back and it was replaced with a brand new one and since then it has worked spot on!! Yes you pay yearly subscription but to me its worth it.. It works out about £3 a month so hardly breaks the bank!!

Always found Skycaddie to be ideal. Had an issue once trying to download but its worked fine since then.

i did some downloads few months ago the all of a sudden it wouldnt take a charge my handset, went on to sky caddie forum and loads people had same , but they swopped it straight away

How do you know their customer service is appalling if you can't be bothered to contact them - and you've only had it 2 days, when like most of the country they are probably closed?!

Not had any issues with my SC5. The only issue I have really is paying the fee each year and I'm considering looking at other devices maybe later in the year (birthday is June) and calling it quits with SC
