Can anyone recommend a club in the Hemel Hempstead area?

Hi Guys,

To cut a long story short I started playing last year at the same time as 3 mates, joined Redbourn GC and got HC28, they lost interest and jacked it in, I ended up playing football again but have decided that this season is definitely my last, cancelled my membership.

The upshot of this is that I am looking to join a club again, probably on my own, and try and push my game forward by taking lessons and playing in comps etc.

Can anyone recommend a club in the Hemel area that is welcoming for lone golfers to join and is in the same price bracket as Redbourn? I'm 24 so I qualify for most intermediate memberships that I have seen.

I liked Redbourn but am just interested in whether there is anywhere else worth looking at nearby?

Thanks in advance,

GaZ

If you like Redbourne why do you want to leave?

I was a member there for about 3 months before i moved to Inverness. Found it to be very friendly, met some nice people and never had a problem finding people to play with. They even had a new members day so you could meet other new members, something you don't get up here.

The obvious answer is my club....Aldwickbury Park.

It's a very friendly club. New members are always made to feel welcome. They hold competitions regularly for new members to meet up with other new(ish) members.
There are at least 7 qualifying competitions every month.
They've also just added another 4 per month with the start of the Winter League.

There's plenty of social events.

The golf course is in great condition and the greens some of the quickest in Hertfordshire. There are no temporary tees or greens and it's open most of the time.

It's also a sister club to Redbourne so you can still play there half price if you wish as well as 8 other courses for free around the country.

Because it shares the same management, you might even be able to negotiate a transfer.
Your other obvious choices are Harpenden Common, and Hammonds End.
Luton Hoo keep reducing it's membership fees but they dont have many members.
Stockwood Park is close by if you want something cheap and cheerful. Same goes for Batchwood Park.

If you've got a few quid to spare, Brocket Hall is spectacular. Nearer Hemel, you have Shendish Manor, Little Hey and Boxmoor.

Good luck with your final decision.

Cheers for the info guys!

I don't have anything against going back to Redbourn, I was just interested in whether anyone had any opinions about clubs near by.

Cheers again,

GaZ
