Scottish Office to be re-named UK Government in Scotland.
Strange that as there is no UK Government in England, NI or Wales.

If he carries on like this Indy2 will be a no contest.

For someone who understands the purpose and function it is a pretty logical change to make no?

Don't let that get in the way if your Indy propaganda though

You've spent months moaning that the SNP aren't getting recognised in the UK Govt, and now you don't want the UK Govt, of which the SNP is apart, ...... Just how confused are you?

It's provocative - why do it?

Bet it's got something to do with EVEL.

Why is it provocative? Scotland is partly run by the UK govt. If it was called the English office I could understand the provocative...

Maybe the UK Govt office is one body and cover Wales too...

It's provocative simply because it's unnecessary - some will take it as shoving the message that Scotland is part of the UK down the throats of Scots.

But the more I think of it - it does seem to me to be part of creating in the mind the idea of the UK Government in England (as will happen under EVEL). I expect the Welsh Office is also being renamed the UK Government in Wales.

NHS and Police are under the control of the SNP. Still taking a hammering.

Not that you'd notice given the dearth of reporting on the shambles they are making of running both. :(

Funny how they are oh so quiet on important issues like these........

Steel industry, NHS, Police, Banking.

All taking a hammering under under Torries.
Different thread, but I am old enough to remember British Steel, when the UK nationalised the steel industry. Back in the '70's it lost a million pounds a day. As far as I am aware spending in the NHS has gone up since May, can't comment about the Police. In my view any industry (banks) that is fined on seemingly a weekly basis for illegal trading deserves what it gets. I am not sure what you mean when you say the Tories are hammering the banks, but if they are, that's OK by me.

wont make a bit of difference now only ENGLISH mps can vote on ENGLISH laws stopped the SNP in its tracks

Explain - don't get how EVEL will have stopped the SNP - if anything it brings forward the day that a YES will be forthcoming - if for no other reason than there will eventually arise the occasion when the Scottish MPs (read SNP for the time being) are very clear in their disagreement with the Speaker when he declares an issue one for EVEL. The SNP will also be clear on how the issue impacts Scotland - and the Speaker will overrule the objections. The Speaker will not be interpreting and laying down the Commons Law as he does at the moment - he will be making a personal judgement not based upon Commons Rules, but on the basis of guidelines the largely English and Conservative Westminster government will have framed - most likely in their favour - why wouldn't they?

Meanwhile in sidelining 59 Scottish MPs Cameron has very blatantly created for the Tories and nice majority - a majority that the otehr parties in England are going to struggle to overcome for quite some very long time. Indeed EVEL is in effect a form of gerrymandering on a grand scale that almost guarantees a Tory majority in the Commons. Mind you - what the heck happens if in a GE a party wins a majority and forms a government - but on matters EVEL the government does not have a majority. So a party can win a GE with pledges in their manifesto that they are unable to deliver in England. Going to be fun and games.

Shoving the message that scotland are part of the UK down the throats of the scots??? What does that mean?

you are part of the UK! The majority voted for it to stay that way. It's called democracy.

Re....SNP comment, it will be a massive step towards Independence for them so stopping SNP in their tracks makes no sense whatsoever.
I'm not sure if you fully understand the issue.

A wise man once told me to never talk about these things in a pub.

Religion, Football or Politics. The same goes for online forums I think.
