Notice TM got hammered a few days back for the jet speed, yet it doesn't seem that long ago the x hot range was launched.... Yet it's old news already.

I added a similar thread earlier in the year which got very little reply and yet, as you said, when TM release something it goes to 20 pages within a few hours ... and yet the make the same distance /speed/ etc claims too.

Not bothered - can't even remember the first X Hot thing being released.

But they won't be bashed as TM are by people.

Change the paint code, add a few mm to the shaft and it's a great new model, yet only TM get flamed

I totally agree with what Callaway are doing.

TM have (rightly) been bashed in the recent past for there aggressive marketing and frequent product releases. Look at their yearly turn over ($) and number of units sold. At the end if the day, they don't give a monkeys about golfers, the care about dividends, profits and growth..... They're a business after all.

Why wouldn't Callaway want a piece of that? I'm surprised the other OEM's haven't jumped on the band wagon sooner.

Which manufacturer does give a monkeys about golfers and isn't just interested in profit

Im pretty comfortable in saying the treatment Ive had from Orka says they care about golfers not just the profit. Yes they are one of the smaller brands but give me them rather than the big brands every day of the week

So they are all the same and you agree with what Calloway are doing yet TM bear the brunt of the negativity

The reason TM get the grief they do is they have history in doing this. In all probability they are the ones that started the 6 month roll out of new equipment. If not 6 monthly then yearly.

Looking at it from a business point of view, why wouldn't I want to do it? If Callaway took 10% of TMs sales that would still be a multi million dollar income capture. Why would I not want that? Then I could pay more pros to play Cally drivers and increase exposure. Year on year on that front sales and profits would grow. Great!

Looking at it from the punters point of view.

A) The guys who buys once every 7 years - I'd be a bit peeved if I brought the latest, greatest driver only for 6 months later for it to be superseded with the next best thing (That in all probability is the same driver with different paint). But would it bother me, no. I didn't buy the club as an investment to sell on, I brought the club to use until it breaks. Then I'll buy new again.

B) The guys who changes his clubs more than his pants - Great! I can get a new shiney every 6 months and pedal this off to off set the cost. Failing that I wait 6 months and get the model I want at a massively discounted rate compared against release prices. Happy days! Either way I get what I want in a short time frame.

Which person do you think the OEM's are targeting?

I find it irritating the speed these manufacturers are releasing "new" models with their claims of increased distance and improved dispersion. It's no different to computers, the next "big thing" is already in production meaning the computer you have just bought as the latest and greatest is out of date before you plug it in.
