Calloway XR irons

I picked up the XR pro's the other week changing from the Ping g25's.

I have only played 1 round with them but have had 3/4 range session and a gapping session on flight scope.

Obviously the pro's arent the same as the normal XR but hopefully will give a bit of an insight.

One thing I have noticed is the distance (and what everyone says online), they are longer than my pings by about 10 yards here and there. One of my 6 irons carried 193 on flightscope whereas my old average would have been about 180 total distance (on course).

I have also found the flight to be a bit lower yet it is penetrating and flys through the air very well.

Overall I think they are brilliant clubs and you wont go wrong getting them.

Have a look at the video reviews on youtube for a bit more information

I have the steelhead irons with graphite shafts. Having owned X14's for years these look very familiar and as with most Callaway clubs they are very friendly to use, the graphite shafts are great for me despite my reservations (I don't have a particulary fast swing speed approx. 75mph with a 6 iron), I don't notice a lack of feel/feedback (I am however a 14 h/c so am looking for help rather than the ability to shape shots). I previously had ping i25's and the Callaway XR steelheads are about 1 club longer throughout the set. My ball flight is relatively high but I don't feel that these 'balloon' at all, I bought 5 thro A wedge and allin all am very happy with them.

thanks for the replies, I should have added. I am in the process of joining a club. still going to be playing once a week in the summer as an average. Current handicap would be around 22-24 I would estimate but I hope to get to 18 when I can play a little more and with better equipment. best round is an 83 (on a par 71) but normal rounds are mid 90s so I hopefully this is achievable

I got a really good deal from AG on these with the trade in and price match so have taken a bit of a chance but at just over £200 I couldn't say no!
