Got our telephone bill yesterday, got charged to ring the Police.

since Scotlands police forces amalgamated into "Police Scotland" you now have a generic phone number "101" and not the local station.

its appears that number is a premium rate number..... :(

so reporting a crime is Scotland costs you!!

how ridiculous is that?

That sounds totally nuts ,

Its local rate to local station here but we also have a crimestoppers type line number thats free or the 999 option free

Premium rate for emergency services ? disgraceful

Calls to 101 are for calls that do not need an immediate response and are charged at a standard rate of 15p regardless of length of call anywhere in the UK, even better though the 15p goes to Vodafone!!!!

You used to be able to call the local station with a local SDT land line number, so now if you are reporting a crime, following up on a crime number you have to pay for the privilege.

The wife was reporting and abandoned car in our lane.

Disgraceful, made even worse that the money doesn't even go towards policing costs but to a private company who were excused a 6.75 Billion Pound Tax Bill a few years back!

I had to call the police a couple of days ago, as it wasn't an emergency I called our local police station on the direct number I've had for years only to be met with the response "Where did you get this number from? You should call 101." No wonder I have very little respect for Police Scotland.
The next time I need a policeman I'll go to Tesco. There always seem to be at least two there at any one time buying sandwiches and juice whilst on duty.

I suppose they need to fill the gap of their over estimation in regards the price of oil
