TITLE EDITED

I have a query for all Scots on the Forum. I'm wondering what bottle of whisky to try out. I've tried the commonly available drops like glenfiddich, glanmorangie, Jura and the likes but I'm wanting something different.

I enjoy these styles of whisky over the earthy/oaky types.

I ask the Scots as they are proper whisky, drinkers/producers and should know best (correct me if i'm wrong)

Thanks, Kev

Re: Calling all Scots - Whisky query

It really is a question of personal preference. That's the attraction of single malts, they are all subtly different and I can favour one over another depending on the mood, weather, surroundings or time of year etc.

That said, some that are good but maybe less harsh for me would include Dalwhinnie, Glen Moray, Highland Park and Glenlivet.

Re: Calling all Scots - Whisky query

You dont want any of that Irish Whiskey nonsense.

Glenlivet is superb.

Most of the Speyside malts are very palatable, the Islay malts tend to be peaty and stronger flavoured.

Tomintoul make a very nice and under rated range of malts. Strongly recommend that you check out Tomintoul. Macallan is another main player and well versed. Some of the Tomatin malts are nice and not that expensive, the twelve year old is nice, I won a bottle of that and found it enjoyable.

Try some Cragganmore...you won't regret it!

Re: Calling all Scots - Whisky query

Macallan is nice, very smooth.

Tallisker is nice aswell and i also quite like Auchentoshan just now.

To throw a wilcard in, have you tried Glayva? Whisky licquer and the smoothest drink i've ever had, the bottle never lasts long!!

Neither do your teeth drinking that!

Re: Calling all Scots - Whisky query

I'm not a whisky drinker...BUT I really like Glayvva (as mentioned ) more of a licquer I think and reasonably priced AND bought Gordon a bottle of his favourite Connemarra (again might be a licquer ) but was over £50 for the larger bottle....top top stuff
