Hey, does anyone have any experience of the X2 Hot Pro Irons? I am currently thinking about moving to a more 'player based' set of irons after reaching single figures, having been looking at the AP2's and the JPX 850 Forged, but I saw these and had a swing with them in American Golf last night and they were lovely, but very cheap! The guy told me it was because of over saturation of the market on Callaway's part, but the normal X2 Hot's are still £100 more expensive, just wondering does anyone play them or know the reason for the low price? They are a lovely looking iron and feel fantastic, and by all accounts are very workable.

You've got to single figures? Then surely now is the time to celebrate with a set of these bad boys:

I've had mine since mid June and love them....I've got the project X 6.0 shafts in them and its a great combo for me. Lovely low trajectory, good spin and stop on the greens, they look great behind the ball and do allow me to work the ball when I try to.

Not sure how the lofts compare to your current set but I found I'm a whole club longer with the callaways i.e. 8 iron 155 yards.

Thanks Adam, just wondering what do you play off? Hope that's not being too nosey?

No problem at all....since having the clubs I've played regularly between 11 and 14 (I don't play competitions). Until then I was playing between 19 and 21. My previous clubs were Nike Combo CBs. I went from a regular shaft to a stiff and its changed my game.

I went from AP2's to them in the spring after the same thoughts as you. I was off 10 and wanted clubs that would just be easier to hit and save that odd bad shot that I couldn't avoid with the Titleist

The XHot 2's just were brilliant, easy to hit, go at least 2 clubs further but the correct height. My handicap went up 2 shots but it was nothing to do with the clubs. I also got the driver and rescue clubs and will only change if the new irons due in February give something that these don't.

I got standard clubs with the 85 g speed step shafts and to give an example, my 18th is a 198 yard slightly up hill par 3. I couldn't get there with an AP2 ( I had 4 to p/w) but can do it with a 5 iron now, with the same swing.

Give them a try, I love em

Titleist 5 iron is 27 deg loft and a Callaway Xhot 2 pro 5 iron is 23 deg so i imagine that explains the difference in distance.

I'm aware of the loft change but they still remain stupidly easy to hit and, for me, still go the height that I would expect from the number on the bottom of the club rather than the loft.

I have a second set at home that are XHP's I bought them last winter after a test session. I hit the irons superb and fell in love. They are definitely longer than my titleists.

I play with AP2s at the moment only because I had a bad spell when my swing went awry and i blamed it the Callies.

Of course nothing to do with the hardware.

Actually I was thinking only the other day of giving the XHP another outing now i have some form back

Nice irons.
