It occoured to me the other day that I've had my current set of irons (see sig) for well over 12 years now, and chatting to a guy at work, I may have 2nd refusal on a set of Callaway X-Hot irons for a tenner a club (might try and knock him down a bit...

Anyhow, can anyone tell me what these clubs are like etc, and advice as always appreciated!

Cheers.

Forgiving and well built. Nowhere near as long as the XHot2s as the lofts aren't cranked as much.

I have hit the Xhots and own the gap wedge and it's really nice.

Er. No!
Where Loft and length specs are not identical, X Hot specs are stronger/longer!

Agree about them being forgiving. £10/club seems a bargain!

The X-Hots are a 2013 iron and the if they are the same as the ones I have in the classifieds, at £10 a club I'd be wary of them being fake or stolen. Have a look at the pictures in the classifieds and check the photo of the 8 iron with the S/N and pattern mark, however even this can be faked.

Second hand, depending on condition and number of clubs they're going for in between £180 and £250.

Regarding the clubs they are one of the best clubs Callaway have produced and they're the closest irons I've come across that are cast with a forged feel. They are very accurate, long, (no longer than the other stronger lofted irons, RBZ, Cobra Amp etc) and easy to use, ideal for any mid to high handicap player.

Bad shots don't lose much distance and all in all they are a very good iron for anybody from 10-28 handicap.

The only reason I am selling mine is that I got an offer on a new set of Titleist AP1's which was too good to turn down. I'd owned the AP1 710's previously and I after trying the 712's preferred the trajectory, offset and slightly thinner top line compared to the Callaways.

Good point. But selling fakes to a work colleague?

Worth asking where they were purchased/whether they are fake though!

I bought the 4-SW X-Hots at American Golf over the Chirstmas period and very happy with how they are performing thus far. Very nice flight and feel great when you catch one sweetly. As has been said, they are very forgiving as I make a bad swing on an all too regular basis but never seem to end up in that much trouble. They added 10 yards to my yardages straight away as well (although I was previoulsy using an old John Letters T4 set so maybe others may not notice much of a difference!).
