Our Pro gave all four of us playing this morning one of Callaways new balls to try out.
I found I really enjoyed the feel of this new offering, both off the face of driver and irons and really nice around and on the green.
He thought they would sell at around £18 per dozen.
As an old golfer with a slowish swing speed I thought they were a ball I may well trial this season.
Anyone else tried these yet?

I've not had a chance to test these yet but have spent the last two days writing about every ball going for GM and the Supersofts are perfect for someone like yourself. The low compression will help your clubhead speed reach the core more effectively than a firmer, premium ball like the Lethal, Z-Star or Pro V1 for more distance, and because there are less layers it'll feel softer off the face around the greens.

If you like these but still want the spin performance of a Urethane ball then I recommend trying Wilson Staff's FG Tour too before you decide on a ball for the season. It also has a lower compression and is cheaper than a lot of balls on the market.

£15 a dozen for blemish FG Tours (which I've found no blemishes on personally) to be exact ;). Anywhere from £20-£25 for retail packaged brand new ones as well.

This is probably why I get on with them having an slow/average swing speed (driver around the 85-90mph mark). I assume the FG Tour X is a higher compression for faster swing speeds?

They are very soft. I started a post not long ago, didnt realise how many people hate the feel of callaway balls !

I started this thread in good faith as I really enjoyed playing this ball
As 74 year old,17 h/capper with an exceptionally slow swing speed I felt it would be of interest to many golfers of all ages and experience.
I started playing golf in 1967,the era of the 1.62 ball and long before Game improver irons, gap wedges and 460 driver heads,60' wedges and hybrids were in use,all of us golfers from of a similar vintage have to have had open minds and accept the changes in equipment over 5 decades.
Homer, sorry to single you out,it is because I really enjoy your posts and feel your pain at times but I would hope you do not live your life in golf and in general unable to to perhaps change preconceived ideas(prejudices!!!!)
I know for certain I would never have played off 9 for twenty odd year if I had not experimented.
Best wishes

May have to give these a try. My standard ball is the Wilson Staff DX3 and I love the feel of a low compression ball. At £18 a dozen then these are priced pretty reasonably as well (sorry just not going to spend the £25 that some companies want for a mid range ball). Only problem is that it is another ball that my pro shop does not stock.

Another who has always found Cally balls way too hard. Be interesting to try one and see if they have got a ball that's much softer especially off the putter which is where I find them too solid

Picked up some of these today as I was after some SR1s to try (having missed out on my free ones at KoD day :o). No SR1s but he suggested these as good for a slow swing speed and must say I was very favourably impressed. Nice flight with the driver and full shots and very nice feel off the putter. At £6.00 a sleeve they won't break the bank. Kept their looks too.

Played with the SR1 today, really nice ball. Off the driver very nice feel, not like the old Callaway potatoes! Also reacted well with the wedges, a pleasure to putt with. Went round my old course in 9 over!

I have been using the supersoft ever since they came on the market I must say for someone with an average swing speed they are a great ball at a great price.

I got some curtesy of a 2 in the ball sweep, tried one the other day and can only describe them as having boingability.will be best, I feel, in the winter
