Callaway Big Bertha (2006) Iron head falling off?

Hi all,

Ive picked up my first set of 2nd hand golf clubs and im fairly new to the sport about a year. Bought a set of callaway big bertha 2006 model and im loving them. Nice control however I have a question and I guess its best to ask people who know.

The problem im having whilst looking at them is that the stick where it joins the head seems not to be connected all the way. It only seems to be on the 5 Iron. I dont know if this is normal which is why I would like someone opinion. There is pictures attached which may explain it clearer.

Here is the 6 Iron as you can see it is joined smoothly and cleanly

Here is the 5 Iron as you can see this is the only iron that isnt joined smoothly and looks "odd" is this normal?

It does look like it is either unseated or the shaft has been out and the plug hasn't been replaced.

All im wanting to know is will the head actualy fall off? Took them to the driving range today and they seemed perfectly fine. No wobble, only noticed this flaw when I was feeling the bottom of them.

Welcome matt,

I have Callaway x18 and the 8 iron did exactly the same as your 5 iron, get the pro to repair it, it's just come unseated.

It cost me £5 to be repaired. No reshaft needed.

Welcome aboard!

It should be pretty to re-seat the seal. I'd get it done asap as the fact that you know there's something wrong will 'get in your head'!

Of more concern, to me, is the fact that they are the wrong way round!

I played it with it but it's just come loose, there is a chance the head with come off, I think you are best off getting it repaired before playing with it :thup:

Thanks for all your help guys, youve being a massive help. One more little thing ive noticed is the black plastic things at the bottom of the club where the shaft connects to the head. Some are missing does this effect anything?
