Hello

Just wondering does anyone have any particular opinon/view when it comes to Callaway golf balls? I'm thinking of trying the HX Bite or Warbird.

I prefer the softer callaway ball. Use to like the HX tour but the tour i/x are good especially in the wind although durability is an issue and they do seem to scuff up more than other premium balls

I use the new Tour Ix regularly and to me it seems every bit as good as a prov-1 or Srixon Z-URS - both of which I also use. Not used the others but may think about the Bite for the winter - may buy a sleeve to try.

Hi,

I have used the HX Hot bite before and found it a very good ball, however it is each to there own. What I may think is good and works for me may not work for you. I think it boils down to trying as many as you want until happy.

Cheers

I wouldn't recommend any of the above, aint played the I/X but the tour 56 is a great ball. I found one last week and liked it so much I will be getting a shed load of grade A's for the winter if I can find a good deal.

Im using the tour IX's at the moment, its a pretty good ball and every bit as good as the proV series, I really like them. They stop dead on the greens, go as far as any ball Ive hit this year and feel nice and soft round the greens although as mentioned by the right honourable homer they do scuff a little which doesnt affect the ball, it does't do the cosmetics any favours.

As an aside lads, what do ye think the best ball in the £15 a dozen bracket is?I play warbirds currently, but they seem to get bad reviews, i love them off of my irons, straight and true, but maybe im missing a trick around the greens, although blaming the ball is a bit like the workman and his poor tools.

What would ye recommend in that bracket, i play once a week, off 18, i like a long ball, but i dont want to be totally sacrificing touch and putting?

MWJ I thought you where the lord of the Warbird, you couldnt get enough of them a few months back?

I am thinking of getting two dozen from Onlinegolf for £15 due to lack of roll in the winter, mind you lack of anything over summer this year.

Best winter ball anyone?

I know, £15 for 2 dozen is a good price and tempting, I was thinking of ordering some just for the sake of it and trying them out again as AD333s at £1+ a ball are a nightmare to loose this time of year in leaves and things. I have some old Warbirds somewhere and I might test them this weekend and if they are any good I might order a winter load.

I have used the HX Bite, Big Bertha & Warbird. The HX Bite & Warbird are very a like I found, the BB slightly middle of the road but the DX2 & AD333 better overall than them in proformance & cost.

I am taking a liking to the NXT Tour, they seem to be a popular ball lost ;) but £20+ a dozen isnt in my price range at this time.

They have the English flag on them! No wonder they are almost giving them away! Might have to reconsider getting them or scribble over it with my marker pen.

It seems to me many of you are paying too much for your ball of choice.

Warbird balls for instance can be found for between £9.99 & £11.99
Titleist NXT Tour balls can be found for £19.99 or £20 The same price as Callaway HX-Hot & HX-Hot Bite, though again if you shop around the HX-Hot etc can be found a bit cheaper on special offers

Callaway Big Bertha balls can be found for between £14 & £16.

But its all horses for courses really.

I used to really like the HX Tour 56, but way too expensive for everyday play & no-longer available.

To compare the entire range of Callaway balls is like comparing an Austin Mini With Austin Montego & Landrover Discovery & a Bentley, each are great in their own way.

We'd all like to have the Bently but wouldn't want the running costs, the mini is fun, but impractical for most & the Montego practical, but dated, the Landrover discovery was a bit slow off the lights but pulled well & could be used off road. Which would you like to have & which practically would you pick.

Same goes for the Callaway balls, we'd all love to play the top of the range ball, but the wallet says otherwise.

Warbirds are fine at what they do & best priced ball with a decent name on the cover, The HX range of balls are great, but more money then I'd regularly want to spend, the Big Bertha is outdated, but probably the one I'd choose from that list for monitary & practical reasons.
