Tried them at weekend while 'looking' at other clubs, to say I was gobsmacked is an understatement, they were so easy to hit, I could feel a smile on my face, most fun I've had at a range for years. High, low, draw, fade, dead straight it was like the ball was on a string.

Now, they look pretty good from the back, a bit chunky from the top which is the opposite to what suits my eye but is this what the chunky club players use? no wonder, I felt I couldnt miss, massive confidence boost.

I tried a good few clubs over 3 hrs and 250 balls, I could have gone on for longer I was enjoying myself so much:thup:

Now if I can persuade my ego................sad thing is I dont think I can. What is it they say about pride and a fall:rolleyes:

The Apex MB have the same shaft as the Apex Pro, the KBS Tour V, nice shaft, low spin and trajectory like C taper but lighter weight and more feel. Would fit in as part of a combo set, MB in the short irons, Pro in the middle/long irons, even Apex in the longest couple.

Are these the standard or the Pro version..?
To be honest the Pro is easy to use, especially if you're a decent striker.
Slimmer from the top, less offset....
First hit a 6 iron at my Bertha fitting - very sweet..!

standard, but I really like the pro, good looking muscleback blade style and actually I prefer it over the AP2 now-

Was impressed with them when I tried them at s demo day

Toying with a combo set idea and these certainly could be an option with the MB version in the shorter irons

Just so we are clear, there have been two Apex models out for a year or so, the Apex, a GI iron similar to a Titteist AP1 and the Apex Pro, a semi cavity players iron similar to a Titleist AP2. Now they have added the Apex Muscleback, a blade iron which is the least GI of them all.

I brought a set of these (non-pro) about 6 months ago. Ridicolously easy to hit the long irons, long high and straight. I wanted the pro version but put my ego aside and cannot be happier (and poorer!)

I must have tried 5 or 6 sets of irons but these were best for me by far

I use the previous model (X forged) and couldn't believe my mate from Callaway when he said these were a significant move forward. I was wrong! I love the look of the heads and they feel like a proper blade all soft and buttery but no finger sting with a miss hit. Without trying to patronise tho, its the shaft I think that has added to these, I hit the KBS Tour + which I think is equivalent to Project X 6.5 (might be wrong) and it felt more alive. I would LOVE a set but next year maybe.

was that the Apex Pro? is so I agree. The Apex is certainly chunkier but also a very nice feel and sound from them.

Pro didnt have the KBS shafts though, need to try these first but I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy

That being the case I am confused because they def had the KBS shaft in and I am sure it was the Pro. I liked the shaft so much I have bought a second hand set of Cobra AMP Forged irons with them in. I'm going to use them first at Saunton when I join. (Lucky git I know!!)

sorry, what I meant was the PROffesional only had XP shafts and not the KBS which is the stock shaft. I really liked the XP but keen to try the KBS V shaft that's stock on the Pro model. Think the XP is stock on the Apex chunkier heads to help launch

I've recently bought AMP Forged irons with KBS Stiff + shafts and absolutely love them. Wasn't a fan of KBS shafts before I tried these, very impressed with them.

Hey thats ok! English is not my first language so I probably mis read (Im a TAFF)

I think that you could get any shaft for no extra charge, the XP were the stock in the standard ones though, I got the PX6.0

yeah its not the cost its the fact the range only could let you demo 1 shaft.....then expected a £700 sale. Love the clubs but for that money I'd like to be sure and not buy in haste repent at leisure!

update- went and tried them again and the Apex (non pro and chunkier of the two) is really growing on me.

Do I give up my ego as a blade player since starting as a boy and choose these that are so much fun to hit? At the range I ended up trying to hit the flag at about 160 I was finding the clubs that easy to hit. Normally I'm thinking about the swing or connection first and target 2nd.

I like slim shiny forged heads, these are forged but not slim but I do find them attractive.

They're not the stunning girls at the dance, nor the fuglies, more like the pretty one you could take home to the folks thats a long term keeper.

/I'll probably end up with the slim harlot that'll break my heart....again

Surely this is a no brainer??? Drop the ego and buy the clubs that make it fun?
