Thinking about new irons and would appreciate any feedback from those that have them, or have tried them. Would also appreciate some further feedback on the shafts you gave in them or have tried in these particular irons.

If got the apex cf16 forged (not pro) in 4-PW with xps95 shafts.

The main reason I tried this was because that was a shaft I've had great success with in the past. I tried the equivalent in ping I series, rsi 1, 2 & forged, and the equiv mizunos and nothing was close.

My swing isn't any where near where it was last year and I'm hitting the same distance as when I as on my A game. Very forgiving.only negative is I don't like the stock grip

Thanks for the feedback, I had a look at the others you've tried prior to getting your callaways and I feel that the callaways should give me what I'm looking for. With regards to shaft I'm currently using a heavier shaft, which is ok, but I've heard that the project x shafts play stiffer than other equivalent shafts (weight&flex) from different shaft manufacturers.

Project x are known as marmite, some love them and some hate them. I was the later.

I would suggest a fitting in these as they're not the cheapest of sticks, at least a session on the mizzy dna to identify correct shafts for you

I actually had a fitting for these at the Callaway Performance Centre in Chessington. They're great clubs, but the real benefit is in getting the right shaft. When fully tuned, the fitter found a shaft (TT XP95 PTIP) which was optimal for me

THey are really expensive clubs and felt great but they didn't seem to give me much better results than my current fitted Mizunos. I've also been looking at the Titleist AP forgeds but again they didnt seem to give me much more than my current Mizunos

Maybe I will look at the new Mizuno 900s or perhaps the MP25s

Tried those at KoD this year and they were gorgeous and felt brilliant; I wasn't even fitted, just testing. The only problem for me is the price tag.

That's also what my club pro told me, asked me how my current KBS Tour shafts "felt" and said he thought the Project X might feel a bit boardy.

I've gone through a recent full club fitting for my current irons so have a reasonable idea what should suit. Hope to get a demo club with project X shaft in the next few days to have a go and see how it feels. Wondered if anyone else had tried that particular shaft.

Been really disappointed with the build quality issues I've had with the TM PSi irons,so hopefully the Callaway irons will give similar/better performance without any of the quality issues.

I had project x in my previous mizunos and they are quite similar to the KBS C taper I have in my current mizunos. Help me get a lower more penetrating ball flight. I have regular shafts but the tips are quite stiff

Actually seems like you may be 'maxed out' from a club/shaft point of view, so quite possibly not really worth searching for hardware to provide better performance! If you are serious about improving, a series of lessons to improve the performance/efficiency of your swing could well be a better way to go!

FWIW, I have long had a serious 'hobby within the pastime', trying out clubs and shafts. While the feel varied, the performance varied very little - though light shafts definitely don't suit me! It was my swing that had the most effect! So if you want improvement, then that's the best area to 'apply resources' (aka spend money) - imo of course!

The existing clubs have failed more times than is acceptable so that is why I'm changing my set, and changing manufacturer/brand. I may be max'd out, as you put it, but I'm interested in trying the project X shafts, and if they're not suitable in terms of feel I'll stick with the KBS Tour.
