Cack handed

If, by cack-handed, you mean left below right (for a right-hander) then yes a former assistant at our club who does quite well in local events does exactly that. The interesting thing is that he has no difficulty in teaching others the conventional grip and swing.

I believe he had a spot of 'bother' when he was an Am.

Apparently, he was 'overlooked' for Scottish teams even though he was regularly beating/performing better than guys who got in!

Many Pros are reluctant to teach guys who play cack-handed too!

Yes that's the one! Sometimes I find it hard to put tips into practise as my wrists/elbows act differently through the swing as opposed the conventional grip, and almost always fade every shot..... Which I have just adapted around

It would be good to see someone else in action to see any similarities and shot types in comparison to mine, sometimes I can struggle with precision shots.... I think it's down to turning the wrist when coming down on the ball

I putt cack handed, I'm ambidextrous and my left hand is quite strong so I just feel like it gives me more control than the other, always felt more natural to putt that way

I play this way and always have done from a kid , only fade problem i had was with the driver but im using offset at the moment and it seems to help , i have recently adjusted my grip slightly so would like to try a normal driver , i currently play off , around 26 but managed 41 points stableford and can still hit the ball well enough

Do you hit the driver high aswell? I can get plenty of distance with the driver but also pass a few Boeing 747's with it

There's a 1 h/cer at Kenilworth, who hits it long and always straight down the middle. My pairs partner uses this technique and plays off 12,and also always straight down the middle. I tried to use it the other week in the nets and couldn't get the ball airborne, straight though!!!

Haha funny you should say that , im exactly the same , and i dont hit it overly high but i dont tee it up really high

A warning to anyone attempting to try a shot cack handed..... A few years back I had just picked a brand new set of ping g10 irons up from my local golf shop/range and headed to the range to try them out. Walked in the range and bumped into a friend who plays cack handed and decided to try it with a previously unhit 6 iron, took a swing and on the follow through shaft snapped at the bottom of my left hand!

Did you take half the mat with it? I almost done the same thing trying to hit it the 'normal' way!! I use that term loosely as I believe it's whatever's comfortable to each individual
