Buying tickets to sporting events - rant

Liverpool vs Barcelona pre season game at Wembley went on General sale this morning at 10am on Ticketmaster.

I logged on at 9am and had the count down running, watched the counter move to 10am and the screen refreshed....... 2 adult tickets, best available...go (fingers crossed get decent tickets).....nope all gone. Literally within seconds and the whole allocation is gone, not even the slightest sniff.

Guarantee I'll be able to find them on tout websites for massively inflated prices.

Why should this be allowed to happen? I know its been happening for years for all kinds of events, yet somehow we still seem to get ripped off.

Its funny I want to go to Royal Ascot 15th June and its £75 to get in on the gate. I'm hoping to get a ticket cheaper from a tout outside the course. The mate I am going with is there all week but he also doesnt have a ticket for the Wednesday and he told me it should be possible to get a couple for £100.

It would appear that a tout in this case can actually save you money?! :confused:
 
I went to watch Adele in January and she tried to enforce a rule of ID'ing on the door to make sure it was the right person that is on the ticket.

I watched 20 people go in front of me before myself and none of their tickets got checked for a name or ID'd, myself included.

It's all good and well artists and venues trying to crack down on it but there's no point if they don't actually follow the procedure they said they would!

You should have said, you could have had mine.

They were on sale to season ticket holders first, but I wasnt going. Ive just checked it out and Liverpool have sold out, apart from hospitality packages.
 
Got to admire the stance taken by the Foo Fighters in the US. For a number of their gigs they have gone back to selling at the box office only with limited purchase numbers to avoid touts getting involved.

That's very kind of you, it didn't cross my mind unfortunately. The Hospitality tickets are £250 a head....crazy money!

ticketmaster have a secondary company of which they buy? So many tickets from profitable events and flog them on there secondary company for a massive mark up. My lad was on about it earlier this year and was just as livid.

That's absolutely shocking. I mean who on earth would want to pay good money to see a pre-season friendly? ;)

I'll probably see more will to win in my nephews under 10s final this weekend than you will at any pre-season friendly. They should pay you for you taking your hard earned time to see a practice match. Laughing all the way to the bank they are.......

How about the Anfield ticket office? Did you try there?
 
For the first time in ages I managed to get 2 face value tickets for the o2 today - Rod Stewart, but only then because a guy who contracts there got them for me - row 2 block A though. Hope Rod is still around by November and not gone like his voice !

I'd watch yourself making comments like that about Rod; if Mrs BiM sees them she's liable to do something unpleasant to you and use the tickets herself! :eek:

She'd have to fight with Mrs D! We've seen him since about 1977 every decade or so and he's always been a great live entertainer. We're seeing Simply Red soon and that's a Mrs D wish, personally their not for me!

What I have heard sounds good. Having seen them a couple of times would like to see this as a one off opportunity. Suspect that will be it after this
