so today i visited AG on phase 1 of looking at new irons , my 1st though was how the hell do i choose!

looked at the AP1s,RAZR X,JPX800,BURNER2.0

Hit the AP1s very nice if not a bit pricey!

so how the hell do i choose and what happens at a fitting ?

Keep trying irons till you get a feel for what you like then when you decide and depending on where you get fitted the chances are you may get put on the trackman which will monitor all aspects of flight to ensure the right shaft is fitted also you will get checked for correct loft and lie.

Best picking a club manufacturer and get them to fit rather than AG do it, you sometimes pay a fee for fitting and sometimes it comes off your purchase cost but either way it's worth the cost.

You should price match everywhere, just do not mention the vouchers until you have the price you are after, if they know you have to buy there then they will extract the urine.

Get any head you like but make sure you get the right shaft.

Is the correct answer.

Does the AG that you went to have a range? A trackman or flight simulator or whatever is are all useful pieces of kit but the best way to get an idea of what the ball flight is like is to see it.

no t doesnt , but think i will go down the the local range and try the clubs , see the flight then go back to AG

I price matched a Scotty Cameron at AG with a Direct Golf price. Direct Golf had it for £159 and AG had it for £199. I paid for mine with vouchers ;)

If you like a specific set ask AG for a price and price match and then ask them to send you manufacturer for fitting. You will never know if they will go for it untill you ask.

what does this mean and why is t funny!!!!

I would have thought it was pretty obvious?

The fact you have vouchers limits you to AG and I wouldnt use/trust them as far as I hit 9i

Flog your vouchers and get a proper c/fit at a manufacturers centre.

And remember the SOH

Was the AG attached to a range or just hitting in a bay and relying on their computer to give you the numbers. If its the latter I wouldn't trust them in the slightest and to be honest if it was a choice of off the peg or C/F I'd take my chances with off the peg anything all day.

In my experience (pretty extensive) AG simply don't do C/F well or even properly in some cases and its pot luck whether you get someone who has had the training and a modicum of a clue or the Saturday boy making it up as he goes. If you have to use them, they should have demo models of all the main brands with at least stiff and regular stock shafts. They should in the case of TM, Mizzy, and Ping be able to take the shaft out with a wrench and change the shafts over without a problem. Again it depends on which store and if you get someone that can be bothered to help that much.

Can anyone advise if the price match is available if you get custom fitted and you
dont get the bats from off the shelf ....... this bit is concerning me!
