about to buy my first electric trolley and was wondering if anyone has any good tips or suggestions on what to buy or what to avoid etc.
Thanks

If you need it to fold up small get a Motocaddy M1, different folding style and is much smaller than my old push trolley.

Happy with the trolley in general really, wish I'd got one a couple of years ago rather than humming and hawing over it!

don't go too fancy, just bulk standard forward/stop/speed etc

i got an all singing all dancing Motocaddy and i doubt ive ever used any of the extra features

Motocaddy s1 or s3 - both simple solid trollies

I have recently bought the new Motocaddy S1. I can really recommend it. I paid extra for the long life lithium battery and I can recommend that as a good choice too.

couple of things - don't leave the battery on the trolley when you are not using it. mine drains the power out of it! This may be in the instructions, but hey, who reads those? Also, see if you can get one with a brake. Finally, don't inadvertently turn the speed up to full when trying to turn it off to play a shot! Electric trolleys are great and they certainly save you energy!

Exactly the same for me, yes it does not have all the bells and whistles but it does the job I want it to do, get's my clubs around the course with minimum effort from me. I went for the 18 hole lithium battery and it managed 36 holes on the Trump trip in one day, including the Trump course which is a bit of a walk between holes.

Go lithium, definitely worthwhile imo

Personally wouldnt touch Motocaddy again after the lack of customer service I received. I now use a Golfstream (small british company and far more robust trolley imo and customer service on a completely different level)

thanks for the feedback. Whats the major difference between lithium and acid batterys and do people really tell the difference?

I have only ever had 36 hole lead acid. Boy are they heavy. I had mine over 4 years though. But heavy to carry. Did I mention that?

I have my Powerbug trolley and 18 hole lead battery four years and its still going, although it is starting to slow down on the last couple of holes. I only ever put the battery on charge the day before I'm playing golf which seems to go against the advice of the manufacturers but it has worked for me.

If your tall get the Motocaddy.
I'm 6 foot 3 and the little extension to make the handle higher makes a massive difference for me.

Having had a motocaddy and Go Kart, there are merits in both but if I had to make a choice I'd go GK (lithium), safe in the knowledge that if there is a problem the GK customer service is second to none. Solid, reliable and no frills

Great trolley and as stated superb customer service (well noted for same). Only issue I have was the lead battery - lasted 5 months (using 2/3 times a week). Of course they replaced with new. I do wonder how long this one will last.

Just bought an electric trolley for the first time and chose the Powakaddy FW5. Also went for the lithium battery as it is so thin and charges up in no time. Had half a dozen outings with it so far and not saying that the trolley is the reason for it but I have dropped 1.3 shots since I started using it.

Stay away from cheap ones like Gokart Hillbilly Powerbug to name a few, Motocaddy or Powercaddy and you won't go wrong.

I'll 2nd golfsteam, had mine for several years now and it had been faultless, even the lead battery is still going strong and it doesnt get treated well at all.

Steer clear of the no brand ebay ones.
