Somebody came down the range who had paid a good price from the US for a set of R7's from a seemingly reputable seller. It turns ou that they were very expensive forgeries.

I think in some cases that the risk outweighs the savings that can be had.

I dont im sorry.
but im sure someone does .

I'm sorry, but what on earth was the point of this post?

Minty was asking for information from members who had experience of the topic, not a list of people who hadn't.

In an idle moment I looked at member's postings and the normal maximum from the active forumers was about 100 a month. 1 or 2 were a bit above this and most below but there is one who stands out averaging over 360 per month.

Is someone we know and love going for a world record on this site in total disregard to the value of the content?

It would take something a lot more important than that to upset me. I've no intention of going on about it.

Just thought that I would bait the hook, cast the bait and see what bit.

Im not sure that you have to pay tax if you go about it a certain way, but I am not sure what that is. If your going to do that the best route to take in my opinion would be buy the clubs whilst your in america on a holiday and bring them back undeclared, because i doubt they will go over the limit you can spend before taxation. I might do that if I go to America next year which I might be, but I wouldnt make a special trip, and I doubt I would import clubs unseen due to the risk factor mentioned by MWJ.

I got both my Nike fairway woods from the States. I was walloped with £19.95 import tax and VAT for one and £23.50 for another.

Also worth mentioning, our flucked up government charges you VAT and import on the postage as well, not just the price of the club(s)!

That said I still saved a small fortune and if you buy from a company then you dont have a problem. Its really amazing how many people have "a mate" story..............

Hope that helps you buddy.

But given that our Govt are thieving bastards at the best of times, why give them an opportunity to rob you again? More's the point, why give your money to the part of the world that brought us 'in the hole!' on par 5 tee shots?

Yes, we get ripped off in this country, but don't make it worse by handing extra profit to America and our Govt!

Use the web, a bit of charm and keep the UK golf money where it can do the most good - the UK. ;)

(Jesus, I've started to sound like a UKiP voter!)

Sorry toonarmy but at the end of the day if I'm spending my hard earned cash I will give it to whom I get the best price from and if that from uncle sam then so be it.

As I said I still saved a small fortune.

As for the government, well the cost of living here has got the wife and I seriously considering Australia, Canada and yess even the states!!!

Here's what you do.

Befriend someone who lives in the states. (My wife's, 1/2 sister's, uncle in law's dogs baby sitter)......that sort of thing.

Ask 'em to buy you a nice set of clubs, get 'em to hit a few in the garden, make a couple a bit muddy, chuck them in the post to "ye olde engerlund". Chuck em the fee for a lapdance or giant portion of doughnuts.

If they're used, you won't get taxed, it'll just be a gift from uncle sam.

Now then.....was that the inland revenue knocking at the door?

If i go im going to spain without a doubt! Its not so much the cost of living for me. i jsut dont like the whole way the country is run, i dont like the immigration. I dont like the way paedos in prison re allowed to watch kids tv in there cells. i dont like the way other prisoners are allowed to play playstations and rent dvds in there cells. I dont like the way my local hospital is one of the dirtiest in the country with chronic mrsa problems. Money is wasted here. I done a job for the RAF £15,000 of roof that wasnt even leaking in RAF northwood. Its being knocked down next year. they done the roof just so they didnt lose their budget for the next year etc. Sickening. when you think of it. Not to mention polish families get money sent to their families who live in poland. Also the fact that it takes me 30 mins to get on the motorway in the morning when i can walk it in 5. Maybe because there haas been 10 new housing developments off the same main road within 3 miles of each other between the main route from town centre to the motorway.........................The list goes on and will never stop as long as we are in britain.

There is crap no matter what country you live in, trust me I have lived in a few and Spain being one.

There was a dude on a month or so ago who said a full set of x18 pro cost 30 squid to import. I am put off buying from the states though, spesh when a Ogio SS flight is $140 and anywhere else its double that.

Yes you do. Gifts over $50 get taxed. Value has to be declared.

I know things can be frustrating at times in this country but take it easy.

We are so bloody lucky to have our freedom, food, shelter and are free from opression and police brutality.

We have a FREE health service and although that gets knocked it is one of the best in the world.

We have freedom of speech, freedom to follow whichever religion we choose, we have the right to vote for who we wish.

Our children are cared for superbly with vaccinations, financial assistance and a structured education system.

We have clean water, electicity and gas in abundance, poverty is low and life expectancy is long.

What I am saying is that if my beloved British Isles are bad, what the F*** would it be like living in Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, Mayanmar, Columbia and many other poor countries.

It grates on me when people as lucky as we are blight about what goes on here, there are people in the world who cannot provide basic food and water for their children, places where babies are thrown into orphanages or murdered and disposed of like rubbish because their parents will be punished for having them. There are countries where people are brutally opressed for reading the wrong books or worshipping the wrong god.

The world is a very, very screwed up place, If I think too much I have trouble sleeping at night when the plight of others is on my mind.

Sorry to have a rant and by no means an attack on MVP, some people need a reality check sometimes.

All i can say is that i wish i lived my life in my dads era. The war had finished, food was fresher the country far less busy, Brits had a better spending power. you could buy a house and a decent motor(On my shi t wages). there was less nonsense with politics etc. And in some peoples views a better bunch of golfers on tour. + more.

Kids and people generally had a bit of respect.

Nowadays it all about kids who wanna be 50 cent they think there living in COMPTON LA so they go around stabbing each other for mobiles and mugging grannys etc.
