Butch and Phil part company.

Perhaps Butch's $1000/Hour is becoming a little much seeing as he hasn't won for so long.

For those lacking a sense of humour, that was a joke.

Was interesting listening to Butch on Sky watching Phil and basically saying Phil sometimes doesn't really listen to what he's been 'taught'; e.g. his overswing. :D

Coach / player relationships probably do have a shelf life and theirs have asked longer than most. Phil is just getting old, more inconsistent and his results are bearing this out. I would have thought the future for someone like Phil is to hire specialist coaches every so often rather than having a permanent coach.

If you read Steve Williams book he says that the reason Tiger fired him was due to him constantly speaking out on TV sky etc and name dropping him every time. Could this be why Phil wielded the axe?

yes butch always used to "joke" that phil drove it well with a controlled swing on the range, but as soon as he was on the course he went back to trying to smash it as far as he could past the young bombers, and ending up all over the place. that has to be frustrating for a teacher.

Last throw of the dice, but I can't see him winning another now, just way too many better players, playing more consistent week in.

It's probably more mental with Phil anyway, he has the game, although maybe he could work on his putting a bit more....

I had heard somewhere, that the pros don't get charged from their coaches. They are expected to recompense them what they think is reasonable for how they are performing and how much money they are earning and money is paid in to the coaches bank account.

Maybe that Lefty is no longer Butch's star pupil - that award seems to have went to Ricky Fowler who's game has definitely stepped up in past 2yrs.

8yrs with a coach is a pretty lengthy stretch - and has been pretty successful.

Hope Lefty finds what he is after

I am sure Butch will not be left short of clients...

I could teach Phil - easy peasy!

First and only half hour lesson

"Hit the driver and irons no more than 85% power and use your world class short game to score with and not just to recover from the poo"
