Has anyone else got one of these?

I purchased one of these a couple of weeks ago after borrowing a friends for a round and making a good score. I've dropped my H\C by 1.9 in the last 2 comps and I have another medal tomorrow which hopefully will bring me further down.

I was amazed at how much I was getting the distances wrong before I started using this. I was sat on our 7th on Wednesday evening, thinking I had 170 to the front, pulled out the V2 and was amazed I was actually 186 from the pin! It has helped improve my game no end and was just curious if anyone else has one.

Sounds like you had the distance about right with your eyes , 16 yds from front to the pin is about average , whats so amazing about that??

I always think of some 1970s comedy sketch where you put it to your eye and it leaves a black ring there and only everyone else knows except you.

GPS all the way, not that I use mine, small track and play every week and have more issues than distance at the moment, also we have new yardage markers so really don't need the GPS.

Ah the old old GPS device issue again. Without trying to rekindle old flames itis apparent that there is a definite split of those that abhor them and those that find them a benefit and use them

I've had my SC5 for 15 months now and I can categorically say it has helped my club selection and therefore my greens in regulation immensely even if other facets like my short game nad putting have held back my handicap progress. I'm hitting the ball further onto every green and so I'm actually to any flag be it at the front or the back as before I'd stand by the 150 marker and pull out the 6 iron and if I hit it well would be front third and if I miss hit it would be short or front apron. Now I can stand at the 150 and SC tells me the back flag is actually 177 and that can be a 4 or even a little hybrid for me!

I also have the Bushnell Tour V2, great piece of kit. I have strapped to my bag, it takes about 10secs to get it out take a measurement and put it back.

For me the biggest advantage has been inside 150yards and knowing not only what club to use but the type of swing. I have dropped two shots already this season and this is a major factor.

Just a quick question

Are they easy to get a reading on windy days when the flag is blowing around the place?

Its actually easier as you can get the whole of the flag in the crosshairs as it blows in the wind.

Two things for me put me off them.
Firstly, if you can't see the pin, you can't get a measurement. There were a few yesterday that I couldn't see from 40 yds away. I think someone had been playing midget golf  Appologies to any midgets, no offence meant but some flags were only about 2'.
The second thing is, if I haven't had a drink and my hands are shaking, coupled with the wind blowing the flag. How am I supposed to hit a moving target? :o :D ;)
