I am. I have just learnt that my son has just been named Football Journalist of the Year by the Sports Journalists Association. Couldn't be happier.

Congratulations are well earned, to be recognised by your fellow colleagues is high praise indeed.

Was reading about the awards over coffee this morning - no idea, obviously, you were connected in such a way. Many congratulations. Good sports journalism is a wonderful thing and increasingly rare from my experience.

Here we are again a year later and it gets even better. Not only has my son done it again but he has gone one better.

Bursting doesn't even touch the sides.

Saw this on twitter this morning and thought of this thread/you.

Great achievement(s), you've every right to be proud. I enjoy reading his work, well deserved recognition IMO.

Also, on a more serious note, his research and reporting on the abuse in football has had/will have a positive effect for kids entering "the system" in football and other sports in the future, a very impressive legacy.

Brilliant to see Jim, and well done to him and you. Don't forget, you nurtured the raw material, even if he went on to refine it. Bask in the reflected glory, and well done to you too.

All 6 of mine have done extremely well too, and I empathise with how you feel.

I can remeber commenting on this last year and was chuffed to bits for you.

reading the guardian link about what this award was for, It can only make you more proud. Both morally and on a writing level.

well done mah man and pass on my sincere thanks to your lad for highlighting the dreadful things that have happend to some of our favourite footballers.
