Well, along with RipIt and Jonnydee we had the pleasure of Clive Tucker providing insight into the causes of our bunker problems today! I was quietly hoping the the fog would help hide a few of my problems - but Clive has an eagle eye and spotted the issues immediately. Now as long as I stop swaying and bobbing I can hit fabulous bunker shots. The drill that Clive has provided will help provide a basis to work on and hopefully improve and become more consistent going forwards.

I'll let the others tell their stories, but we all improved dramatically under Clive's guidance.

Kevin hosted us to 9 holes at Haywards Heath Golf Club after the lessons (many thanks to Kevin for his kind hospitality). He suggested a "nearest the pin from the bunker" on the 16th hole. I put the ball to 3 inches from the hole - so clearly the lesson has put me on the right path.......

Thank you to Clive, Jezz, Kevin and Golf Monthly for this opportunity - great day.

As Hines has already said above, we had a cracking day learning some fixes for our bunker shortcomings.

With me it was my swing plane that was a problem. Clive identified that it was too shallow - coming flatly around my body with not enough wrist-cocking. A bit of deft positioning by the man had me bent into a shape where I felt like I was overdoing it on a Twister mat. However the improved results in my ball flight were undeniable - a much better strike with a higher softer landing and more control to get it closer to the pin.

Highlight of the day for me was the four of us - me, Hines57, Rip-it and Clive walking menacingly into the bunker towards Kevin's lens, in what the shoot director, Jezz, had requested as a moody Reservoir Dogs style.

After we "wrapped" (get me with the movie talk :D) there was time for a quick sarnie and then 9 + 1 holes on the very enjoyable Haywards Heath course.

It was a brilliant day and my most sincere thanks go to Jezz, Kevin and Clive for their excellent company, help and hospitality, also to Haywards Heath Golf Club for hosting the day at very short notice. Great too to meet Hines & Rip-it, and last but by no means least, Golf Monthly for the fantastic opportunity. Brilliant!!

Sounds like a great day. Waiting to hear how well it's going when you get back to your clubs and out playing. Any insights on the technique employed?

Hi Martin - the changes that Clive made were very different for each of us. My issue was lack of stability during the swing leading to inconsistent strikes. Johnydee and Ripit had different issues and therefore the guidance was different. Clive watched us make our usual attempts to play from the bunker and quickly spotted what was going on. I guess when you work with the likes of G-Mac and see what a bunker shot should look like - comparing amateurs against this is pretty interesting!!!

I remember seeing this after you had all been contacted thinking I would of walked down the M1 to go on this. I hope Santa brings me a bunker lesson. Glad it all worked out well.
