After reading the 'most forgiving driver' thread, It got me thinking a little (only a little, honest)...

The Ping G models got strong testimonials as did one or two others so; would buying a driver head on fleabay and then having a shaft and grip sorted be a) a cheap way to find a good driver for real play or b) a + a less risk on losing any cash should it not be ya cup of tea? Any c)’s to think of?

Using and abusing AG wouldn't cross my mind....honest.

Is it worth it?

yes and no, the g series heads are quite popular. The shaft size is critical 0.350 is the number, but sometimes people don't realise and stuff in 0.335 shafts with out the adapter / shim and the shaft gets knackered ( happened to my motore F1 :( last inch was a twisted mess, it was a stiff, so removing it would make it stiffer). The aldila nv shafts are £30 ish at the moment in 0.350 size. But I would look at UST and Arthur Extreme they have some cracking shafts.

I like the novelty of putting my own driver together, but without some professional advice over the shaft, I wouldn't have a clue which to buy? Maybe the prettiest one?
