Your brief is to build a commercially profitable golf course.
You have been given a £5 million pot of cash and 300 acres of usable free draining land to start with.
Where would you build?
What would your design brief be?
What would be your unique selling point?
Who would be your target customer?

Just interested.

dont know UK mesaurments,,,how many holes can you establish on 300 acres? I should go for at least 6 different 6 holes courses, if it fits on 300 acres? at least 3 different smaller practicing areas with additional putting area and a descent range,, not a net.... 2 practicing areas should contain bunkers, uphill and downhill slopes around the practice areas for chipping and putting, one area should be for approach shots...
The six holes courses should have at least 6 tees and greens should be above fairway, at least on half of the holes. The club house should contain dressing rooms and reception. reception should sell items as gloves, pegs, balls.

there should also be an informel bar , selling ??????

it shall also be different kinds of memberships. For ex . seniors or housewifes, juniors can work as greenkeepers, reception and reduce there memberfee. Catering shall produce there own vegetables and have sheep cutting grass on the course....

Where would you build?-Mexico
What would your design brief be? -Wide Fairways
What would be your unique selling point? -Hooters Girls as Caddies
Who would be your target customer? Every one would be welcome at Pin-Seeker's Place

Can I plan this later as we are contemplating selling our private members club and moving. We went through a consulting process about 10 years ago and the land then was worth a huge numer of £millions then. The plans were shelved then, but have reared their head again.

Give it a year or two and I should have a much better idea of what is needed!

Where would you build? Within a 20 minute drive of a club 18-30 resort
What would your design brief be? A bar at every hole
What would be your unique selling point? Booze and lots of it with dares and horribleness on every hole.
Who would be your target customer? Stag dos.

Where would you build? Uk - why somewhere else?
What would your design brief be? Really mad stuff like a donut shaped green with a bunker in the middle, a stream running through another one, with really fierce tadpoles in it. Grrrrr
What would be your unique selling point? Llama burgers, hen does, single figure (h/cap and dress size) 18-30 year olds, short skirts only in the dress code, with matching pops-socks.
Who would be your target customer? Fat, hairy, letcherous middle-managers.
