Budget Android Smartphone

Anyone recommend a budget smartphone that runs a recent version of Android please?

Am about 4 months away from being able to get an upgrade or new contract and managed to smash my phone to pieces this afternoon, so looking for something that will only be used for upto 6 months I expect

Edit: Needs to be vodafone compatible or unlocked and 4G compatible

Anyone used Vodafone smart ultra or smart prime?

I had a Smart Ultra 6 for about 14 months when it malfunctioned before Xmas. Within a week it was replaced with a brand new Smart Ultra 7. It's a lovely phone & works great. While it was away I bought a mobile from the Vodafone shop as a standby. It was only £15 but 3g not 4g. It served its purpose until the replacement arrived.

I wouldnt worry about damaging it, if it breaks, it breaks. I will probably never need it any way, and it is just sat in a drawer.

Anyway, i found for 70 quid or so it wasnt that bad a phone.

you can pick up an s5 on eBay for about a 100. decent spec phone and makes a good spare.
