I have today received a letter from BT, my current Internet supplier, announcing that the village I live in can now get.BT Infinity. Has anyone got opinions as to whether signing up with BT is the way forward or should I look elsewhere? Currently I do really well to get 2 Mbps supply.

I went from Sky to Infinity, 12 months ago, never failed always top notch and very very quick!

Depends whats available in your village i suppose but i think Virgin has the fastest at 152mb.

Try plusnet. I find them great and get a good solid 40mb. Can be more expensive than others but the customer service is always great.

Infinty is great, i get about 55mbps. BTs customer service however is truly dreadful

It will be cable to cabinet and copper from there to your house, so speed will depend on how far you are from the cabinet.

Same cables and wires, so speed won't be very different between providers. I got the same email a few weeks back and ended up going with Sky because it was a better deal than Infinity. Easy peasy to set up and working reliably with stable speeds and no drop outs.

I have both Virgin and BT Infinity connections (work from home full time so I like to have a backup). Quite surprised to be saying this given the reputation of the firms, but I would actually recommend both of them. I have had no issues at all with either over the last couple of years.

BT Infinity was a significant upgrade in speed from my previous ADSL2 connection with Be, so if they're now offering it as an option certainly take a look. If you have a choice in your area though, go for cable, the full speed downloads on the Virgin line are astonishing!

I'm with Plusnet Fibre unlimited. 76mb. But I'm paying for something I don't need so am looking to move shortly.
Never had any problems with them, but they are getting expensive now.

Phone them and ask them what options you have, they can do a lot more for you than the website shows. I did and halved my monthly bill yet got a better package.

Had infinity for a couple of years now. Get 59MB down, 17MB up, I work from home and can remote my office system whilst the wife is watching here online drama's and the boy is online with his xbox. Not had any real problems until recently it seems to be a bit flakey with the wifi connections - some devices don't appear or transfer slows right down. A power reset on the hub always cures it but BT support don't think there is anything wrong..... In general, have been happy with the service.

I had the exact same issue, where wifi would drop to under 1mbps. In the end after much messing I got a new HH5 out of them and all is well.
