I was in his group for a pro-am at Effingham in the 1980s and pretended not to recognise him when we were introduced. One of my lines was "so what do you do for a living?"

Half way down the 1st fairway, his caddie came over and asked me what I had said because Brice was steaming. After a few holes he calmed down and realised I was just winding him up.

A few years back I told Jimmy Tarbuck that story and he was howling, promising to remind Bruce of it next time he saw him.

What a great all round entertainer he was. I remember watching him as a kid when he hosted Sunday Night at the London Paladium - at the time he was the "London Paladium".
To have a career starting at age 14 to just over a year ago is amazing.

His wit and charisma will be sadly missed by many.

They will have a few obit shows in the can ready for when the moment comes for certain people. BF has been poorly for a while and at his age it is not a surprise. Following strictly he has been seen as a BBC person so no surprise they are going to town on it.

I believe they do practice broadcasts for when the queen dies.

We have an annual scramble named after him as he donated the trophy. There are also photographs of him from the 70/80s on the wall in our 19th. He is on our putting green with his Rolls Royce in the background.
