I've just received my tee time/group for my clubs big comp of the year on sunday morning and I'm going out in the first group with a single figure player and the captain!!!!!
Bet I top it!! :D

Feel your pain!! i joined a new club couple of weeks back and this week is first comp since getting hanidcaps.

Im playing off 21 (on a great day) and my playing parter would be >36 if theyd let him...weve been paired with a 10 handicapper and a -1.4 handicapper :(

to make things worse its stroke play.....

IMO this is not a reason to be nervous, its a great result!

You can only learn from these guys, watch how they get around the course and you might even start to emulate them. I always play better with better players, usually because in my own head I forget about h/c and play them at matchplay. Okay, I'll rarely win a hole, but it makes you raise your game to a whole new standard.

Use it as a learning experience, think positively, Im sure these guys will help you through the day, who knows it might spur you on to win the thing!

Tee it up high. Forward in your stance. Crank your driver wide open and give it a belt. What's the worse that can happen?????
:D :D :D :D :D

My guess is: Hit the ladies tombstone with the ball which then rebounds, knocking out the captain. Meanwhile the club has slipped out of your hands and wraps itself around the single figure handicappers neck.

Any other suggestions?

Much work these days for a motivational speaker?

:D

All joking aside something similar happened someone on here, can't remember who but I think he nearly took the Captains head off with his opening gambit on Captains Day. You gotta laugh.

dont be nervous, go out and enjoy yourself. I have only just recently joined a club and played in club comp with a 28 handicapper. Dont get me wrong i enjoyed the day but it bought my game down as he shot over 120!!

As said above playing with lower handicap players will only help the way you play and help you to play better!!
