Hi all

I posted this review http://forums.golf-monthly.co.uk/showthread.php?59806-American-golf-tonbridge a couple of days ago.

For those that cant be bothered to read it - essentially I was hitting my Covert driver at the range, head felt rattily and AG were very good and have sent it back to Nike to be fixed, in the mean time given me a demo club to use. Club is 7 months old.

Initially I thought I'd love to just get my club back and start playing again. But since I bought the club there have been about 1.3 million new drivers launched and the pull of a new driver with better "gains" has got me thinking.

So what would you do, be happy to get your club back fixed? say you've lost confidence in the product and want to exchange it for something else?

I've not heard of this being a theme with the covert, so am hoping its just a one off.

The Covert isn't even that old! Keep it in the bag I say, nice looking club for me.

On a side note, there seems to be quite a few instances of adjustable drivers 'rattling'. I've heard a few tales on here, and a playing partner at our spot has an X Hot with the exact same problem, so not limited to one manufacturer.

rattling adjustable driver, sounds just like my R11 I had to be honest and if they fix it then it should be fine and as long as your not a bit of a headcase like me you will probably be back to hitting it well in no time. I however could never get it out of my head that it had broken once and wouldn't do it again and so I was from then on never confident with my driver (and yes all my drives were shocking after that). I ended up trading mine in to be honest before my as my brain had convinced me that it would go again. On the subject of new drivers, well there are always new ones coming out look at the TM R1 quickly followed by TM testing SDLR on tour. I went back to basics and got a fixed non adjustable but custom build bang driver and have now stopped looking at new drivers

Mine rattled so I tighten it up before every round, no big drama. I changed the shaft and think I damaged the rubber washer so undoubtedly my fault. The life cycle of a golf club is longer than 7 months ;)

I had a Driver that developed a rattle.

Got it sorted with some Hot Melt and was fine with it. Probably helped that I was/am pretty sure what (harmless piee of plastic) caused it. though

First question I would ask is what do you expect a new driver will give you over your current driver that's being repaired?

Probably not a lot if we're being honest. Stick with what you have.

I'd like to drive as far as this forums average ;)

I like the covert, seems to suit my game... guess I'm being greedy and wondering "what if"...... and everyone loves a new toy.

Its all propaganda, their have been no miraculous technical advances. McIlroy switched to yours and gained 5mph ball speed......I'd kill for that 5mph.

If it's working for you then keep it. A new driver won't transform your game as the media men want you to think. Fairways over distance any day of the week which is why mine languishes for weeks in the bag without being used.

The old saying if it aint broke dont fix it kinda doesnt work on this one.
I would say if you find driver that you are confident with and works for you look after it
and keep it next to you as you sleep cause it can be you best mate. And there
is no better feeling than watching your tee shot sail down the middle.:fore:
