This doesn’t happen very often and with the Goswick meeting a few days away you could say I’m a little early……but why not blow your own trumpet.

Anyway, as the heading says a 69 is a 69. Winter greens, yes, some forward tees, yes.....but who cares and there was no run to help the cause. Considering I hooked me first tee shot into the trees for a bogie and three putting two greens on the bounce at 12 and 13 I’ll settle for this.

I didn’t want to pressurise myself by checking my score, but I was in a zone and after getting a 2 at the 16th I had a good idea I needed two pars to break 70. These two holes were hard work but I got the job done.

Brilliant Tommo, I can remember breaking 70 a few times as I have a good memory :D I'd love to get there again sometime, well done.

but well done,

I wouldnt worry Viscount, the last time I remember shooting below 70, I also remember shooting 88 the next time I played. :D

Great score, Harvey, especially after that start.

I expect you to score like that every time, you know. Wee confidence booster, eh? Is that your best around RM?

Yes it is John, done 73 in a medal last year when I first joined and I've never managed to get the two halves together until now. TBO some of the winter greens are more difficult although shorter.

Roll on.

No pressure for Goswick then :D

Well done 69 is fantastic scoring, like you say who cares about shorter course etc. To play well in winter conditions is alot harder than the summer IMO.

Well Done, I hope it dont last :D

Breaking 70 is brilliant golf, even if it is in the winter. You still have to hit the greens at the very least so you're striking must have been on good form meaning the score was deserved- and you are absolutely right to blow your own trumpet- just wait until I break 80 for the first time; everyone will know about it!

Was it down to your new 3 wood?? ;)

Ah, used it two or three times and it's sweet. I really like the V steel 3 wood but the Nike has a deeper face so it gives me more confidence off the tee IMO. I would say the V steel is better of the deck and for that reason I've still got my 5 wood. The V steel has much better player feel, but that could be down to the TM regular shaft compared to the stiff Nike.
