Was thinking of a golf break away and Brocket Hall quoted a package of £185 per person that included:

- 36 holes of golf
- Use of Palmerston Golf Academy practice facilities
- One night accommodation in Melbourne Lodge
- Full English Breakfast

Which I thought was a pretty good deal.

Unfortunately they have no availability in Sept, so I asked what they would charge for 18 holes of golf only and the price they quoted was £125 for a midweek round or £137.50 for a weekend per person.

For those of you who have played it before, would you say it is worth that price?

I haven't played it but but if your willing to pay that kind of money you've got a lot of other very good options.

I get to play there quite a bit, love the place. Would I pay over £100 a round, probably not, but then I wouldnt pay that for almost anywhere. Think its £45 or maybe £50 as a members guest and more than happy to pay that to play there

It is a nice set up but not worth that. We have done the deal you describe twice in last two years through ygt and got for under 120 all in. Note that in the evening they are quick to close the restraunt and bar.

Played it several times in league matches - cost me £7 for the afternoon tea afterwards. Good value!

Nice course, but £125 - £138 ?
I don't think so...

I played the Palmerston course earlier this year and wasn't that impressed. First tee is quite a distance from the clubhouse, as is parking. Food was good though and the staff were helpful. :)

Its about 200 yards up the hill from the clubhouse to the first tee. How close do you need it to be?

Where do you play in Herts that I should try thats better Del as must be some great tracks I dont know about if Palmerston didnt impress at all

Don't play the Marquess at Woburn then as that's a bit of a walk - in fact the Dukes isn't on the door step neither.

In fact add in a lot of courses if you are dismissing a course based on a walk to the tee !!

Played Melbourne .. it is wonderful. Will I play £100 - probably not.

I was there for a clinic and the course goes was very quiet, so we asked the Pro if he let us play. I think twighlt is about £50-60. As we were two of us and nothing else going in, I think we paid £45. Worth it as a one off.
