For me it's the best of the reality telly shows out there as it shows a great side to people as well as showcasing some wonderful talent young and old

Tonight the mind readers were amazing but for me the most powerful moment on telly was that Missing Persons Choir - just amazingly humble and i hope that it helps , amazing song as well

Phil said the best of reality shows, and I would agree that it is the best of the talent shows and doesnt go on for months like Xfactor does.

The mind readers were amazing but I just didn't get the girl singer at the end of the show, what was she singing? it just left me cold

Entertaining enough for a Saturday evening, especially as the BBC offering was the dross that is Doctor Who and Casualty.

Me and the wife totally agree about the Girl singer - she was amazing but she knew it and displayed no humility and a lot of arrogance, can't see people warming to her

This was just heart wrenching though

For any users on Facebook please share it

Whilst it is of course a laudable cause, to me it just seems the end game in the way that these shows try and manipulate emotions. On the whole these kind of shows have had their day in terms of popularity. So people just singing, juggling, getting coded messages from their mate on the pretense of them reading their mind etc etc is no longer enough, so most of the people on these shows seem to have had to 'go on a journey' to get to where they are, and this is just upping the ante. Of course playing with viewers emotions has been going on for a long time now. But there does come a time where 'talent' (however that is defined nowadays) will not be enough unless you have some backstory, ideally a sad one.

But again best of luck to the people searching for missing people.

Whilst a lot of that maybe true for the pure singing contests i believe you are way of the mark in regards BGT which seems to be going from strength to strength and increases in popularity - yep plenty will always have a story behind it but a lot of times thats what makes the Talent a bit more special, the fact a group of people can come together to form a choir and then public display their emotions so powerful for me should be applauded and seen as special - that came from the choir not from in anyway the show try to manipulate. Or maybe im just not cyncial enough and maybe im just not trying to rip every heart warming story apart because these days its not right for something to be just as nice on the inside as it is on the outside.

BGT is harmless , at times powerful and many times shows of how wonderful actually the UK can be - right now with all the negativity going on , its perfect to give people a smile

It's light entertainment for a Saturday night. It doesn't have to be cerebral for everyone. It's little person makes it big.

some are rubbish, some are great and some come with a back story. So what. Channel hop of its not to your liking. What's wrong with some people liking it?

ps, whilst the choir came together for a good reason and, undoubtedly, does some good, it did nothing for me in terms of singing talent.

I thought the mind readers were excellent but it's an easy one to crack. I know a similar trick with cards, using an assistant, that leaves people gobsmacked... it's a play on words and actions.

I'll always remember the night the social convener at our local miners came on the stage and stopped the show.
The female guest singer was really terrible, he took the Mic from her and shouted " order ! order !, you need to listen to the bad turns as well as the good ones" he turned and held the Mic back to the girl and said " carry on Hen " . True story , i was in the resident backing band lol.

It Phils yearly BGT thread : ) I dont care for BGT much myself, the sickly stuff is too much for me. Dont mind a bit of IACGMOOH though.

To me talent is talent. And I don't care if they have had a private education at Eton and went on to Cambridge before forming a band or it they have formed in a support group for people whose dogs have recently died. I was not having a specific pop at this choir, but the principal of endless journeys and back stories.

Difficult to come up with something new that hasn't been done over and over. Tired Cowell formula but there can still be 'moments'. Walliams is good for the show, probably saved it tbh. Saw some of it yesterday, didn't think the 8yo 'comic' with adult written material was right, comment about Amanda Holden was inappropriate I thought, would have been inappropriate on Celebrity Juice never mind BGT.
All magicians are pretty much unwatchable, singers can go on another show, choirs are as much fun as dentistry, dance troupes are old hat, dancing dogs are old too. Not sure what's left tbh. Kids like it though and that's what matters with Sat evening telly.;)
