Hi GM,

I am 35 and have been playing about 20 years, off and on. I have young family so don't get to play all that much much, but i can still hit a decent ball (try to play to 14, but should be single figures) and have been looking at getting a new set of irons. I got my current set about 15 years ago, and me, my golf and golfing technology have all changed a lot in that time.

So, I went for a custom fitting at TourX Golf in Wigan (I can highly recommend the facilities and the service) with no preconception of what irons I like, other than I like simple classic looking clubs. after trying dozens of varieties and guided by the excellent fitter Nick, I decided on some Bridgestone J15 Driving Forged irons, that I was consistently hitting cleaner than anything else.

So I came away a happy man, but having done some research I can find virtually no information/reviews from UK players or Pros about and Bridgestone golf clubs.
Should I be nervous? I'm not scared of having a non-big-brand set of irons, I'm just looking at spending a lot of money on some clubs and want them to be right for me.

I'd love to hear from anyone with any experience with Bridgestones.

Thanks

Don't worry. Bridgestone are a really good manufacturer, I think Snainton Golf sell them. A friend of mine has a set from Nick and loves them.

Either way, Nick at Tour X is a top guy and one of the best club builders around, He used to be a tour rep for Adams and has made clubs for Watson, Daly , langer etc so you won't be dissapointed. I thought he had changed premises ! I got my irons off him when he was at Warrington.

Thanks for that.
Yes he has moved into a new place in Wigan, which was a bit of a building site at the moment but will be very impressive once its all finished in the next couple of weeks.
Nick was recommended to me by a friend who is a club pro, so i knew he would be good.
Nick certainly knows his stuff and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a fitting.

Thanks for the vote for Bridgestones!

A few guys at my club have also had Bridgestone clubs fitted by Nick at Tour X. They absolutely love them and now use Nick for all their club fittings.

as an aside, where in Wigan is the new place? Might be up for paying a visit soon.

Fear not! Bridgestone make great irons!

Kuchar, Snedeker and Couples are happy using them - Kuchar both use J15 CBs (Snedeker previously use J40s) and Couples (still) uses J40 'Dual Pocket Cavity' irons.

I have a mate who uses the DPC J40s and loves them and I've just had a round with a combo set of Tourstage (Bridgestone's Premium label) MR23 re great!

Tour X appears to be a proper fitter, along the lines of Precision Golf and a couple of other independents - including a member here. My sort of fitter!
