Used to be the England Golf 'Gold Medal' & you had to be the winner of a 2016 Club monthly medal to enter but it appears there's a lack of interest or awareness so this year it was open to 2016 Stableford winners. Good value at just £25 but my Club paid as I won our Q-Comp for it last year:D

Is anybody else going to this one next Sunday at Preston GC? There were at least 120 places available but here is the list of 83 players .. http://www.englandgolf.org/golfboxdetails.aspx#/competition/914735/players

Anybody entered to the other Regions?......some of those are more full

Leading players will go to the final at Woodhall Spa

I'm playing at Preston on Sunday.

I should have played Spalding by rights but couldn't make the date, so they've allowed me to switch to Preston.

First club comp I've won in absolutely ages so I thought I better take my chance while I could!

Ah, yes I think I see you at 10.40, Gary. I'm 12.20 myself, so may be over there in time to see you tee off.
I think you maybe with guys who've played there before 'cos local knowledge will defo help quite a bit as a number of the holes are not quite as you'd think when looking off the tee.
I played their Open Day just yesterday with Gregbwfc & really enjoyed the course & finished in the top third with 39pts...... it's got character & is a good test so I can see why the Trilby Tour & Eng Golf are using it. Its in very good nick & quite a test... good luck

I looked at the courses when I had to choose an alternative and thought Preston looked very nice. A lot of shortish holes which I like. Being able to hit irons off the tee suits me at the moment :o

I'll keep an eye out for you

Davey is taking this seriously Gary. Bought a course planner and was making notes in it!! Don't think he learned much from me :-(.
Hope weather improves as last 36 hours have been awful.
Good luck to you both and let us know how you get on.

Think Gary might be serious also, as it's a fair trek up for him. Doubt I'd do the M62 through 'Chain Bar' two weeks on a row but for them being a Sunday. 😜
Next year, we should look at a Lancs v Yorks day using a Sunday Open at yours for tee times...... maybe 6 or 8 a side ... what you think Andy?
We've a Sat 'Invitation Day' coming up on 15th July that could be a starter.... though Sunday's are not a problem at ours anyway.

That Lancs v Yorks thing sounds like a plan mate
Can canvas opinions at Sunningdale maybe.

Well played Dave, seriously good score that. I'd be amazed if CSS doesn't go up so a nice cut too

Lovely golf course. Won't mean a lot to most, but reminded me of Porters Park darn sarf, except with more elevation changes.

Constant 20 ish wind with gusts of 30 made it very difficult indeed. I scrambled really well to be +5 front 9 with a triple, but I made too many bad swings to keep a score going on the back.

Tied 8th on the list of most pars with 8. Used my handicap up with 4 bogeys, and the other 14 () dropped shots were in the other 6 holes.

Well done Dave

css was 74 so another nice little cut on its way.

Gaz :o another 0.1 on the way

Only just!

It nearly got to RO, was +3 I think (74).

I reckon 2blue playing well cost me my 0.1 :D

LOL... yes... I had the 2nd best Gross... not something I normally bother looking for

Just 78 sleeps to the National Final during England Golf week @ Woodhall Spa...... & could get an extra day there if I can qualify in the Seniors at Wimslow this Thurs

Cheers guys :thup::thup:

Well done Dave:thup:

I'm playing a match there soon and have never played it so tips for me would be great.
It's a really nice course..... I'd happily be member there but is quite deceptive from the tee... so Best tip without a doubt is... pre-visit .....I'm sure Gregbwfc can be persuaded to guest you there  Good luck

Dave, well played mate, glad that you making the trip over last week helped.:clap:
Would've been tough in that wind today.
How was course? Our comp was cancelled yesterday due to all the rain.
