People have been telling me that I need to enjoy the game, well let me tell you right now I'm ecstatic with it.

Last week a 93 which was my best score. Today an 88, including 100% FIR. I'm currently bouncing off the walls. :)

I still don't have my club handicap yet, but 3 cards are in, so I am waiting for them to return my handicap. If today was a card I had submitted for my handicap, and correct me if I am wrong, but I would have a handicap of 19, course is a 68 SSS, and I only had 1 triple bogey, everything else was 1 x birdie, 4 x pars, 9 x bogeys, 3 x double bogeys.

Now I'm no expert (yet), but I reckon that was a pretty decent round of golf. :)

What's my next target? Under 80? :)

Nice shooting. Personally my target would be to break 90 regularly.

Well my first target was to break 100, and my average is still 101 over the last 2 years, but that's to be expected.

My next target was to get a 25 handicap so I would be able to play St Andrews if I wanted to. My friend lives in Canada and we were talking about him coming over and us playing some of the historical courses we could, so that's that target reached.

So next step is to be shooting under 90 I guess regular, and I suppose be able to compete with the other club members.

Well done! I remember being extremely chuffed when I broke 90 for the first time.

I'd set your next goal as to go ahead and do that in a competition.

Yeah definitely. I feel more confident about going into comps and not making an arse of myself. :)

Please please, don't think you are making an .... of yourself. Nobody will think that way of you.

Anyway, that's some good scoring - you can play this game!

Good luck with your first handicap.

Well I see it as a scary moment to overcome and become a better player. Quite easy when there is nobody there to watch the pressure shots.

Thanks.

Well done. As the voice of doom don't forget that there will be more bad days than good so enjoy the good ones when they come along

Will do mate, certainly enjoying them at the moment. Thing is my good scoring holes today were simple, easy drive, nice approach, good work round the green and solid putting. My bad holes were easily fixable, I definitely felt I left 4 or 5 shots out there.

nice shooting mate. I'm a newbie and just joined a club- don't think i'm ready to play any comps yet as keep NRing... when I do card a score its 110-120 (PAR 70) so like you my 1st aim is sub 100.

How long did it take you to get the confidence to plqy in comps?

Nice shooting.

I suggest a combination of what others have said as next targets - under 90 again, and in a comp with "a card in your hand". Don't expect too much of youself too quickly - that way lies disappointment.

About 6 months.
