Brandt Snedeker clinic- something for everyone!

Not watched it all yet but a great find! Some real simple advice that I'm going to take out with me on Saturday. Like his 'one thing' idea, which is something I could certainly benefit from, as opposed to the 42 different things I think about over the ball.

Great stuff, thanks for sharing!

I have watched this before.
I remember him saying he hits the ball at about 80% power.
I think as an amateur that needs a bit more distance that's not enough for me.
However not hitting it full whack has definitely got its advantages.
He also comes across well in the video.

I watched a good Sam Snead clinic on youtube last night. Cant access the link now, but if you check it out you can at least see him swing about 20 times which is worth the watch.

I typed a great rply to that with evidence and once I hit reply the effing tinterweb said reload the page and it was all gone

yeah seen this before. any clinic will have some great nuggets of information in it! this one is great!

they are worth watching again a few months down the line as something different catches your ear or becomes more relevant to your game.

If you look at it from a slightly different angle. It's my belief that most amateurs (at whatever level) would benefit their games exponentially from swinging at 80%-85% throughout all full shots.

Most folks don't recognize that the single most important thing of any strike in terms of accuracy & distance is just simply a centered hit. Far too many people waste time & effort searching to swing harder with their current technique in search of the nirvana of extra club head speed, it's wasted effort they'll never really find it that way.

In reality the only thing that increases club head speed is a better synchronized swing motion that's timed in rhythm & importantly balance.

The club head has to swing through faster (not harder with more effort) to produce more club head speed but that's only part of the equation, the important bit is the centered hit to best transfer that head speed efficiently into ball speed that produces 'carry' therefore optimum distance. It's good technique, rhythm & balance only that really produces this.

If say you swing through with a driver at a SS between 103 - 109 (numbers just as an example same is true for slower and faster SS) and hit the ball 'centered' at the sweet spot (centered in quotes as the sweet spot not the exact center of the drivers face) you'll get the optimum carry and distance.

If though you miss sweet spot & hit the bottom of the face either center, towards toe or heel you add much more spin rate, hit the face at the top in those areas & you'll still add to the spin rate though not quite as much as hits from the bottom of the face.

Do this and you'll end up with a distance loss of between 20 & 30 yards of carry.

So it's far more important to swing in a timed sequence that allows you the majority of the time to hit the sweet spot of the clubs.

Missing center sweet spot does far more damage just in distance to your shots (even before you add the accuracy loss in too) than trying to swing with more effort to add an extra couple of mph to the swing speed which at best will only add some small gain in yards overall if you can still hit sweet spot.
Most folks more effort means less control & that 20 to 30 yard loss in driver distance & many yards plus accuracy with other clubs too as the same is true whatever the club in terms that you'll lose distance/accuracy with any club if you're not able to make a centered hit.

More folks would improve their golf game quicker & with less exertion, therefore improve their scores & handicap indexes thinking along these lines (80-85% rhythm & balance) rather than trying to search for extra effort & extra mph with flawed swing sequences, swing paths & AoA's.

This vid also states the importance of swinging well to get good contact.

as per the coach, that why my driver swing speed has gone from 115mph to 105mph in a vain hope to keep it on the short stuff! i could belt it a fair distance, but where it went or even non sweet struck ones were a lottery! working hard on impacting where i need to for the ball to go where i want! It has taken a dent in my "macho, 300 club" ego, but i dont care. My new driver shaft is a regular and it has 12deg of loft!!! :o :o but actually,i dont care! it carrys far enough and goes where i want it to! This time next year rodney....

loft up-IER :smirk:

loft is your friend and a reg is fine with a smooth transition even at that speed- it's whatever works Scott:thup:

I picked up loads from this clinic and his putting video is how I used to putt before getting 'taught' how to do it properly:whistle:

Contradicts almost everything I've read/seem about putting, but my god I wish I could putt with that confidence and freedom. Really like snedeker and these videos CMAC are top notch. Good man!

Not seen it in full yet but the opening 15 minutes make sense. Mind you an you any of these pros given this type of clinic make it look ridiculously simple and give words of wisdom. Replicating it is always my problem!
