Played inthe Brabazon challenge today with a mate of mine, 3/4 bettaball stableford comp. First time i had played the course and first time out playing with my new G20 range so felt a little odd playing the whole round with brand new clubs but soon got in the swing of things.

Really enjoyed the course and it was in lovely condition with the greens touching 12 on the stimpmeter so a bit of a challenge to say the least. Didnt try and drive the 10th, wimped out as it was a comp but by god i was tempted. Read a few negatives reviews about the Brabazon but have to say i found them unfounded.

Anyway we managed to finish 3rd with 38 points and won a shiny new Callaway Octane 5 wood for our trouble which unfortunately i have no use for so will be put up for sale soon but a nice prize. Not good enough for a finals spot but had a great day. The last qualifier is 6th September and apparently there are plenty of places left. I would definately recommend anybody who is remotely interested to give it a go, the winners won with 40pts and received a mizuno stand bag, Cobra drivers, £75 clothing vouchers and free accomodation and meals at the final. Well worth winning.

well done mate
how did the clubs go - which ones played best ?

Got to say that the hybrid was out of this world mate, arrow straight, a lovely club. The driver again was much straighter and eliminated my awful tendency to slice when i really "go for it". To be fair they where all lovely to hit if im honest mate, managed 2 birdies on the front nine!

Did better than us, we got 33 points & didn't play badly just seemed to be a few yards off on every shot & found sand every time another day could have had some good luck instead of all bad.

Greens were very fast & never seemed to be a flat putt, unfortunately had a lot lip out as well, toughest thing was trying to work out where to put the approach shot, go for the pin & anything slightly out is in a shortsided bunker, play safe & you're left in 3 putt territory.

Definitely a challenge but would do it again.
