Every year I go away for a week with 7 others. The standard of golf varies between cat 1 and cat 4 handicaps. Courses therefore do not have to be too challenging but decent condition. We have been abroad and also stayed in the UK and would consider either. Something to do in the evenings (even if its only the pub) would be required.

Cost is a limiter, say £800 for everything (travel, golf, beer, lodgings, food).

Would be going during May - July (probably May for Europe).

Anyone got any suggestions? Where have you been that you felt was good? I appreciate that GM has had some decent deals and will consider these.

Thanks in advance.

Only one place for it..........Czech Republic.

Went with these boys http://www.abante.cz/g_index.php?lang=en
And cannot speak highly enough of them.

We did 4 rounds,5 nights, hotel, flights and transfers for £520 then spent around £300 - £350 on ales in Prague and that is me as a fairly heavy scooper when we are away!

The golf courses are superb and if there are over 8 of you,you get your own tour man who stays with you on your days to the golf and deals with everything for you..........there was 14 of us and we had a huge bus for our transfers, felt like footballers with a top team!!

After doing Spain,Portugal etc I think this place really is a hidden gem.

Turkey is a good shout.

Most of the hotels in the Belek area are all inclusive and there are some good deals to had with 8 or more golfers.

A lot of our guys are off to Turkey for £999. Slightly above budget but top hotel, all inclusive and 5 rounds of golf in there, transfers etc. UK if you don't want something too demanding for the higher guys the Ashbury is pretty good.

cant beat majorca , magaluf down the road and some nice courses did it for £400 2 years ago ( that was the golf, hotel and flights) although staying near magaluf expect the golf to suffer a bit :D or anywhere in scotland can,t beat the courses up there

There are so many places to visit. Last year we managed to get La Manga for £250 each, which included 4 nights stay and a round on all 3 courses. It also included B&B.

This year we are visiting Tenerife, 3 rounds of golf, flights and accommodation are £350 each, which leaves plenty of spends.

All you have to do is shop around, there are hundreds of deals going at the moment.

12 of us have done Belek in Turkey the last 2 years and going back next March. A bit more than £800 but all inclusive and the courses are tops. Downside is no nightlife but if you're happy playing pool or watching belly dancing and drinking till you drop, then it's just the job - you will need a chipper if you play the Montgomerie.

I'm off to Turkey at the end of May. Lads have been going for the past 3 or 4 years and have finally tempted me to go with them. The hotel (all inclusive) and 5 rounds of golf comes in at £719.00 each plus we have flights on top of that but we are shopping around nearer the time for the cheapest we can find.
Really nice hotel, (Voyage Hotel, Belek), 6 restaurants to choose from, plenty of bars and as I say, all food (and booze) is included. As are transfers to and from the courses.
Really looking forward to it.

Smiffy, you'll love the Voyage. Was there this summer with the missus and the little one. Food is spot on, service is great and the standard of hotel (for teh money) is top notch. We're booking up for 2013 ( gotta go to States next year for a wedding)

What courses you playing ?

Did Turkey in March, great courses, no nightlife (unless you like overhearing loud pompous old gits prattling on about how rich they are at the hotel bars).

If you go I'd book early tee-off times as the courses get very full & the standard of golf & speed of play is painful (took us 3.5 hours to play 9 holes on the National, groups were sent off every 3 minutes on the par 5 1st to bottleneck on the par 3 2nd, started at 1.15 & finished on the 13th as it was pitch black!)

Have you thought about South Africa, cheap food & drink, good nightlife & affordable golf on very good courses.

Liverpool, fella. Biased of course, but best night out in the UK (even better than Newcastle). Gorgeous girls. Suitable night out for 18-80 year olds.

Golf:- Royal Liverpool, Birkdale, Hillside, Formby (local open qualifier, S & A (local open qualifier and held the ryder cup twice), west lancs, Wallasey. Royal Lytham only 1 hour away.

You could spend 200-300 on a 3 night stay and play 3 open courses, there may even be a local passport deal and still have change of £800.

Tonnes of other stuff to do in Liverpool also.

Have emailed the organiser to get the itinerary sent to me. Will let you know as soon as I see it.
I have heard the names "Sultan" and "Pasha" mentioned amongst others, but can't be 100% sure.
They have been going for about 4 or 5 years now and have played most of the courses in the area, so have selected their favourites and I am going on trust.
The one thing they were all unanimous in was their praise for the courses out there....they all said that they were better than ones we have played in the Algarve, or on some of the Spanish trips we have been on.
The hotel does look good. Even the missus was impressed and has said she might fancy going there later in the year for "our" holiday and allow me to take my clubs with me....
:o :o :o

Finally got the itinerary sent through to me.
Fly out on Thursday 24th May.

Playing the following courses.....

Montgomerie Course, Papillon GC on Friday
Carya GC on Saturday
Sultan Course, Antaya GC on Sunday
National GC on Tuesday
Faldo Course, Cornelia Resort on Wednesday

No golf arranged for the Monday. Most probably lie by the pool all day and get pissed...

Really looking forward to it. Sounds a cracking itinerary.

I've played them all and if you catch them on a nice day, it's almost as good as playing Ashbury Manor :)

Cascais in Portugal. Near Lisbon. Great place to play golf and fantastic nights out. Much better in terms of value for money than the Algarve.
